Very impressive article! For Utah to have three of the top ten ski resorts in North America is phenomenal. The Canyons must be incredible considering the massive amounts of money, time and dreams that have been invested to make it a dream-come-true paradise for skiers. What an exciting winter of skiing fun for Utah skiers lies ahead within the coming months.
Investigate what the ranking criteria is for resorts before deciding if a resort is worth your time and money. SKI magazine tends to look at things like dining, lodging, shopping, apres-ski activities, salons, etc. when evaluating resorts. It's more about the lifestyle/atmosphere than the actual skiing.
Magazines like Skiing tend to focus more on actual skiing in their rankings: Snowfall amounts, snow quality, terrain, lift network, etc. That's why you'll find "real" ski resorts like Snowbird, Alta, and Solitude on their list, while Deer Valley, Park City, and Canyons aren't even in the top 50.
