Mitt Romney passed every test that I had with flying colors. And I was really undecided. He was everything I hoped he would be. He has convinced me to change my mind on his reduction of the tax rates. He promised lower tax burdens on the middle class but not for the upper class, and I believe him.

I don't think these students watched the same debate the rest of the country watched. Every left wing (main stream) media pundit is panicking. They can't believe how - as Liberal James Carvel says - Romney came to the fight with a chain saw. From what I saw, Obama came to the fight with a plastic spoon. Still in the wrapper... and never got it out of the wrapper during the entire debate. This was complete and utter disaster for the left. Every poll shows that Romney hit this one out of the park. CBS panel poll: 46% Romney won, 22% Obama won. Sheer disaster for the left.

This smith guy mentioned in the first couple paragraphs is "still undecided" even though he plans on campaigning for Obama?? Does this make sense to anyone else?

Mr. Obama, wish you would listen to what Mitt says instead of thinking and repeating what you think he says. Mitt is Not in favor of a 5 trillion dollar tax cut. Plan is to bring down rates and deductions so more people can be hired.

Romney can talk in generalities of what he would do. What he did do was require everyone to buy health insurance. He's lying when he says a panel will make the decision. It's PRIVATE health insurance you are required to have.

He's not being honest. Why does the first Mormon presidential candidate have to be know for flip flopping and not being completely honest? Even republicans say that.

Oh, the idealistic ignorance of youth...
As the saying goes, a young person who isn't a progressive has no heart, but an older person who isn't conservative has no brain.

Obama defined Romney, and Romney defined himself.
Need we say more.

Substance? Romney repeated the same vague, trickle-down (Bush) ideas he has been telling us about for years.

What doesn't he get about "been there, done that"?

"First-time voter and University of Utah freshman Skyler Smith said he’s still undecided..." yet the article goes on to state that Skyler is going to campaign for barack in Colorado next week.

Huh?

If you're undecided then why are you campaigning? Are you getting paid? Why did you agree to campaign for barack if you don't know if you support him or not?

Or did the debate help and seeing that the person you're going to campaign for is not as capable as the hype makes him out to be?

I'm just not sure how a person is undecided and then supports one candidate over the other.

I guess one could say, "I'm not a Utah or Byu fan, but, I plan on wearing blue and purchasing season tickets for Byu. But, Utah is showing a strong performance. Well I'm off to tailgate in provo."

" Neither of them have won my vote yet.”

No offense, but does an 18 year old college freshmen have any clue what's at stake here? Does she read, or does she just watch stuff on TV and decide? Kind of a silly story.

A educated 18-year old has more clue than an uneducated adult any day A 1994! And what's at stake, well if a war breaks out, perhaps in the Middle East, they are the ones that buck and fight for us why we sit back at home watching American Idol...

P.S. I'm not 18 but almost triple that number...

I don't get the criticism that all Romney can do is talk. Of course that's all he can do, he isn't the President. The President's talking points are weak because he's a weak president who has put his agenda above the health of the nation, thus crippling whatever recovery he could be making by creaitng new means to spend money. It's time to try out the other guy. Let him put his money where his mouth is... Vote Romney.

For those who think Mr.Obama has America's best interests at heart, I would refer you to his own book, "Dreams of my Father." Obama is a pure socialist, who believes in total government-sponsored redistribution of wealth, which used to be known as communism. Obama thinks that a government should manage the lives of its citizens from cradle to grave. That is a very dangerous place to be in. Just food for thought......

This is the pointless fluff I expected from the DesNews, which hasn't had the guts to post a single article during the past four years pointing out Obama's failures. No wonder these students are clueless.

The rest of the left-wing media admits that last night was big win for Romney and a disaster for Obama. It's just that DesNews can't go that far.

These students are in an air of thick fog. Obama got MittSlapped but good. As Dem James Carville said, "Mitt came out with a chainsaw, Obama with a spoon."

Debate and substance do not belong in the same sentence together. If anyone honestly thought they heard substance discussed, I feel for you.

Is there a reason why conservative commentators on this thread seem to be so anti-youth? What exactly are you afraid of? No wonder Utah has such disdain for education, teachers, etc.

And DN editors, if Ms. Carr is still undecided after the "election" as you stated in your article, please make sure to let us know next month as it hasn't happened yet. Perhaps it was a subtle move to insinuate that the debate decided the election. If so, please take a common-sense or history course in order to better understand the real impact of debates. If it wasn't, please visit an elementary school today so the 2nd graders can tell you the difference between the words "election" and "debate."

MapleDon,

Your comment is hilarious sarcasm. Thanks for sharing.

I like to see those some 175 students what are their votes after the election is over on November 6th. That would be interesting.

Screwdriver,

Ask an accountant at a hospital or doctors office if Mitt's lying. Parts of Obama care are being implemented, and yes, there's more requirements than just having insurance. Your grudge towards Mormons is based on bias.

Didn't BO flip flop on gay marriage, than sends billions of dollars to governments who executes them? Why didn't you remark on that?

Reading the comments made about this article give me hope for the future. Last night Obama got Jimmered ( or Mittered)!
