This is a perfect example of a time when someone who needs to be rescued should
be billed for the cost of the rescue. This was the result of
deliberately dangerous behavior. It was not a simple accident.
Life is dangerous. In the pursuit of "life, liberty, and happiness",
accidents happen. Is someone trying to suggest that this base-jumper
DELIBERATELY got himself in this precarious, life-threatening position? a
suicide attempt? or, maybe, "...just wanted to see how efficient the rescue
team could be..."??I for one and just glad to see he is safe and
the rescue team did what they are trained and paid to do.
glad he is safe but I agree he should be billed for the rescue costs. Base
jumping is crossing the line into the extreme ... and stupid.
