This team is stuck in a quandry. They need Jeffersons offense because there is nobody else that can consistently provide as much but they don't need another season of his doormat defense. We learned in the playoffs however that his offense is not good enough to carry this team anywhere that matters so why not cut our losses and move on?
Personally I would rather seem the Jazz unload Jefferson at the deadline and find a way to keep Millsap. Millsap is a bit short but I think Favors ability to guard the rim would allow for it and then you get the benefit of all the other things that Millsap does so well.
Favors has to take minutes from someone and get on the floor. Hopefully we can play Millsap at the three in enough situations until the trade deadline and get something done. I suspect though that Millsap sees the reality facing him that Favors is going to take a chunk of his minuts and thus he did not want to extend until something is resolved or determined to guarantee more of a full time role for him.
