Go Mia Love.

Go Mia Love.

------------------

Yes, go Mia Love. Go back to Saratoga Springs and stay there -- don't try to inflict yourself on the people of Utah.

I'm confused why Matheson thinks Love is such a threat. She has no experience politically, outside Saratoga Springs, and her record there isn't all that great. She's got several things going for her that make the RNC want to support her with cash: She's a minority, she's female, and she's Republican.

I don't agree with everything about Matheson but I really believe he cares about this state, the state his father led and where his father died because of the down-winder mess. But I'll take him over Love any day.

BTW, I'm Republican.

I never thought I would hear such racist comments from a Democrat. Hey it works for Obama when he talks about Republican critics.

Matheson has done a credible job in the congress, but these ads endorsing the congressman claiming that Love will take away policeman's vests and raise taxes are beyond belief. Maybe he has served too long and need a rest.

Mia Love became the 4th Congressional candidate by persuading enough GOP delegates that she would curtail federal spending and not increase taxes. Her record as Saratoga Mayor shows that she did cut spending but to maintain services, taxes were increased three consecutive times. Now she wants us to believe that when she goes to Washington, she will cut the budget and not increase taxes. Matheson was only pointing out the discrepancy of her past record with her current political rhetoric. His record in Congress has been evaluated five consecutive times by the electorate and each time, a majority of voters believed in his frugality when it came to federal finances.

What really would have helped Love is that she should have shown some real leadership following the recent Dump fire and sought some volunteer help to assist the city to build berms and diversion dikes before the recent flooding that took place. That action could have saved the city and affected residents’ lots of damage and money. Sadly, that didn’t take place. She was waiting for government assistance.

The truth is Saratoga Springs is a great city where the budget is balanced, crime is low, and taxes have actually been cut. I've spoken to the residents, and they find these Matheson's criticisms laughable.

WE need term limits and it is time for Matheson to leave Washington. This is the problem with the system now days. They all think that once they are elected that it is a life time job for them. What really needs to happen is have those who want to serve the people without pay except for living expenses as well as have the same kind of benefits as the rest of us. Just because we elect them does not mean that they are better than we the people are. They work for us as simple as that and if they do not do their jobs we need to fire them like anywhere else. So Jim Matheson it is time for you to go sir.

No one is trashing the city, just that Love has no problem raising taxes. People are either not too sharp, or they are deliberately less than honest.

I sure hope the people in this district elect someone who lives in it, understands it's history, and appreciates the difficult decisions it has made to make it such a great place to live. I don't think that person is Matheson.

Nobody is trashing Saratoga Springs. They're just telling the truth about Mia Love. She is NOT what the Fourth District (and the State of Utah and its people) need. Matheson has done a great job representing ALL the people of Utah, not just those on the extreme far right, and he should continue to do that job.

Matheson will vote for the democrat leadership in Washington DC.

No matter how great he may be...this is why I am voting against him.

I believe that the Democrat leadership is a danger to our country.

Matheson may not vote straight party ticket, but with a Democrat majority in the congress it really won't matter. If he truly represents the majority interests of his constituency, he would have voted against the Nancy Pelosi chairmanship. Too bad, I really like him.

I'm glad someone has been able to stand up and call things as they really are. Granted, taxes have been raised and some services have been trimmed, but if you read the story and look for the truth in facts, you will find that the population has increased but the income from state or county was not keeping up with the increased expenses. We need to look at the facts and figures from before and after things happen and quit trying to look for the bad/the exception. Obviously Mia has done a good job or people in Saratoga Springs would not support her. I agree that she is a novice and probably won't win the seat, but she is certainly a fresh inspiration in this sea of disgusting political backbiting. I've changed my vote to Love for several reasons, but one strong point is that I detest the constant negative ads that the Matheson people have put forth.

I used to like Matheson; even voted for him. But he's so obviously stretching the truth that I've lost all respect for him. There's also a big difference between local taxes and federal taxes. Even people who don't like taxes don't usually mind paying local taxes because it's used for services you can actually see and benefit from.

Vince Clortho

I favor neither, but understanding what truth in taxation means is important. It means that the county will get the same revenue from property taxes regardless of valuations. Property values that experience a relative increase will pay more. As SS's property values have increased so has their tax burden. What Poduska is saying is that the city accept the new rates determined by the county or forfeit services. The increased tax/crime issues are consequences of a growing city and not created by an individual or council.

It interesting to see that positive comments about Love are from SS residents (and some others too), but all negative comments so far are only from non-residents of SS. That tells me that Love must be doing a pretty good job, and that non-residents don't know what they are talking about.

While Matheson appears to care about UT, he is on board with Obama policies. I have received dozens of pieces of mail from his campaign that say NOTHING about what he stands for, only attempts to vilify Mia Love. Get the facts! Not half truths! The only piece I have received from him that says what HE stands for is his support of Obama's ruination of America through his socialist policies! Time for HIM to GO!

Rep Matheson is indeed trashing the city - by staking a claim that Mia Love oversaw a city with skyrocketing crime is both bull and hurts the city. He should know better, please stop trying to defend the guy.

Matheson hides behind his father's legacy and now he has the audacity to use his mother in ad's while trashing a very credible threat to his candidacy. He is in the DC Democrats pocket.

Did anyone notice the difference in headlines on this article? In the paper edition, "Saratoga Springs protesters say Matheson lied" versus the online headline "Saratoga Springs residents counter Matheson's claims about safety, taxes." The paper edition was the lead headline on the front page and is far more stronger in verbage and anti-Matheson. If the Deseret News encourages civility, the paper headline doesn't meet that standard as does the online headline. Too bad the DN doesn't always follow its own policies.
