Do some people actually believe Obama is still a Christian?

who cares really. When folks go to vote they have a couple of things on their minds. Which guy will get me off unemployment the fastest. Now there probably are others who are saying - which guy will give me freebies the longest and the answer is obvious there. Let's hope there are more people voting that want a job and want to work in which case Romney wins. I guess there is another case where if you belong to a union that is gutting the piggy bank then Obama is also your guy.

The article says Ryan is wrong merely based upon an opinion by Rob Boston, senior policy analyst at Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

That is NOT an unbiased source.

It is like saying Biden is wrong based upon an opinion by the American Family Council. An opinion is not inherantly a fact (other than it is a fact that it is their opinion)

The fact is: The First Amendment states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"; A court ruing has extended certain interpretations to States. But the DN also acknowledges that scholars still disagree on court rulings - so to put "Ryan Wrong" in the headline, when it is a legitimate difference of opinion, indicates a misleading media bias.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State is arguably wrong in their extremist hostility towards all religious speech

"Do some people actually believe Obama is still a Christian?"

Oh for Pete's sake!

That comment is exactly why Romney is losing - it truly does represent the "base" of today's GOP, and a growing number of Americans view this "base" with alarm and dismay.

Today's GOP is run by and for a group of people who are willfully, belligerently ignorant of reality.

Of course. He says he's a Christian and he shows up to church a few times a year. I don't know what's more mainstream Christianity than that.

Is being a Christian a requirement for the oval office?

Some of the comments on here infer that Muslims aren't acceptable.

To Blue...How can you say "Romney is losing..." If you check with Rasmussen, the most trusted and accurate poll historically, Romney is ahead Nationally, and even in the swing states.

To Deseret News...Maybe Paul Ryan gets it right, and it's Deseret News that gets it wrong.

In Muslim culture, religion is patrilineral: It follows the lineage of the father.
Obama's mother was not Muslim, but his father was.
In Indonesia he registered for a school as a Muslim
Today he claims to be a Christian.
People change (whether it is real or merely convenient is another matter)

He also claims to be tolerant and a unifier
Claims are cheap (Indeed; I am the rightful queen of England)

Ultimately I don't particularly care one way or the other, since he is mostly incompetent - which is not doctrinally identified with any particular theological belief system

On the other hand; passive/aggression seems to truly represent the "base" of today's Obama apologists, who throw out wild allegations about his opponent, but lapse into victim mode when their own pomposity is disturbed, and a growing number of Americans view this "base" with alarm and dismay.

Blue "Questioning Obama's Christianity is the exact reason Romney is losing" ??? Really?
Not too worried about stretching or twisting are we.
If you do half the research on Obama's religious past as they've done on Romney, they'd find a vastly different religious history and what and how he and his wife truly worshipped.
Fortunately for Obama, that was a whole 3.5 years ago so he gets a free pass by his drunken followers and the media.
And if you think that his "new church" that he rarely attends, proves that he is a true Christian then we can truly agree that the term "true Christian" can be used very loosley.
Maybe my car is a Christian because it goes to church every Sunday.

Whatever....

Here's some reality for you.
As of today:

Obama = 332
Romney = 206

270 is needed to win.

....Rassussmen... haha, snicker, snicker, snort!

It would seem Romney's biggest talking point should be the economy. Yet he seems to constantly wander off message and into issues that voters clearly are not concerned about in this election. A fifty-year old Supreme Court decision is not on anyone's radar.

God isn't a candidate on the ballot. If god were running, I'd have to choose "none of the above". I'm not in favor of any of the "ban" governments (Taliban, LDSban, Westboroban, Catholiban, Musliban, Jewiban, or even Romneyban).

For those of you who complaining about the president' religiosity or apparent lack thereof, I have it on pretty good authority that while Jesus walked this earth, he himself never *once* set foot inside a church on Sunday.

"If you check with Rasmussen, the most trusted and accurate poll historically, Romney is ahead Nationally, and even in the swing states."

That's not even accurate but whatever, I use RealClearPolitics and Nate Silver's forecast model, both of them use data from many polls, including Rasmussen, and both show an advantage for Obama that's about 2-3% nationally.

@AZRods
"Fortunately for Obama, that was a whole 3.5 years ago"

You mean how he used to attend Trinity United Church of Christ? You want to argue that a guy who goes to a church with Christ in its name isn't a Christian? And why do I have to even make this argument when the LDS church is one that frequently gets attacked for not being Christian? Some of you act like the evangelicals who want to reject the idea that the LDS church is Christian. If these statements were made against Romney, they'd be called religious bigotry, mostly because that's what they are.

"And if you think that his "new church" that he rarely attends, proves that he is a true Christian"

Okay, maybe you're just a Pharisee.

I am very confused by your comment. If God were running for president, you wouldn't vote for Him? I can understand a lack of belief in God, but if, by your own admission, God was on the ballot, that would mean God exists. So even if God appeared, you would still say I don't need Him. Incredible.

Most "polling" is paid for by the mainstream media. Sometimes they prefer to bypass the "middleman" and do it themselves.
The mainstream media and the pollsters are doing their best to get Barack Obama elected.

Do you REALLY expect an NBC paid for "poll" (I use the term loosely)to ever show Mitt Romney winning?

People have a tendency to vote for WHOEVER they think is going to win the election. The mainstream media "pollsters" are doing the best they can to convince the "sheeple" that Obama will win.

The ONLY "poll" that counts is the one at the ballot box in November.

Do your homework on who to vote for. Don't believe "facts" coming from media who have lost all objectivity!!
