"Ward dinner on steroids". That's exactly why BYU tailgating will never take hold. Nobody wants to go to a parking lot where everyone is congregated into little cliques. The beauty of great tailgating schools (like Ole' Miss) is that people wander and mingle with others. Sorry, but Mormons are very cliquish and aren't prone to mingle with new people (or share their own food with strangers).
Vegas; Sorry you feel that way, must have had a bad experience......since of course you wouldn't be a bigot. Actually, however, the truth is we shared food with anyone who would walk by and at the 09 OK game in Dallas we tailgated for about 5 hours with OK fans on both sides and shared everything we brought with everything they brought including chairs, tables, snacks, grills...including deserts after the big game, (and tissues for the OK fans!).
No, BYU fans don't tailgate like our new found friends from OK do or the OleMiss fans do; but we will grow it and become better at it with time. Please come up sometime and make that 5.5 hour drive. We will make it worth your time.
