The poor red tailed chickens got trampled by big blue in the barnyard tonight.

Traffic leaving Cache Valley after the game looked like the trail of tears.

It really underscores why Chris Hill and Kyle Whittingham say they cannot afford to play the lowly in-state teams anymore.

Chickens will be chickens!

"I really don't get the trolls on this one. There is no shame in losing to a team that has clearly been improving since Coach Anderson took over..."

Who are you kidding?

The PAC 12 Utes just got dominated by the practically dead WAC Aggies.

The Utes just went from possible PAC south sleeper to KO'd by a team that hasn't beaten the Utes in almost TWO DECADES.

Any Utah fan who doesn't think this is a huge embarrassment for a program that's hung PAC 12 banners from every light post in SLC is deep into denial.

Congratulations to the Aggies; you beat us from start to finish!

Good game, Utes!

This was arguably one of the best rivalry games I have seen in this state in over a decade. Battle of the Brothers revived? I think so.

I think one thing is very clear: the Aggies are back and the tri-rivalry in football in this state is clearly renewed.

It will be interesting to see next week's game between the U and the Y; and then later the A versus the Y.

It looks like the wagon wheel is going to mean something again. Fun times.

Go Aggies!

@Skywalker,

They didn't get "dominated" by a better team. They played poorly, and the refs hommered them in the end. Even the ESPN comintator said; That call is rarely made. The refs made sure Utah St won that game, don't kid your self. That's why I'm glad Utah won't play in state teams in the future. You can't beat the team and the Refs.

How cool would it be if USU beats Wisconsin next week and BYU can take care of Utah and BSU (no offense weber or Hawaii fans) to have a top 25 battle royal come 1st of October. I thought it might have been in SLC, but obviously that is not going to happen, so we might as well have one in Provo! Poor Pac 2.10, USC and Oregon well have hard time impressing anybody with the weak conference they are in. SJSU almost beats stanford, USU beats Utah. We are talking the WAC with Texas St. and UTSA as members. (Texas St. did crush Houston, I'll give them props for that)Pac 2.10 already has slipped as a B-Ball power, now they are slipping in FBS power. USC and Oregon might want to have what's left of the WAC join the PAC 2.10 to add strength to the conference.

Spokane Ute is right! There is a conspiracy. The big boys in the 12-PAC want a cellar dweller, not a contender. If the yewts don't know their place, the refs have instructions to put them there.

I think there are several people missing the boat here on the comments. Clearly USU is a MUCH better team than people were giving them credit for. They more or less were able to entirely shut down the Ute offense the entire first half of the game.

The point is this, Utah is still a great team having just come off a 40-0 win. No offense, but I think it might just be that the Aggies are (yes) THAT good. Keeton is a a serious baller and that USU team is WELL coached and HIGHLY athletic in pretty much every position.

If I were a Coug fan, I wouldn't be so hasty to assume that just because the U lost a hard fought game in Logan means that next week will be easy for them. My prediction is that we are going to have yet another close rivalry game next week, and then again conference weekend.

The Aggies should be thrilled. The Refs gave them the game on a silver platter. What a Homer Job!

So much for the Utes being too good to play the Aggies anymore.

So the Utes finally get a game on ESPN. How'd they do? Oh, about like they did last year against Colorado in their last home game in SLC. Funny, just because they beat a team from last year that was 0 - 11 during their initial outing this year, throngs were singing their praises. Well, a little disappointment for the big bad new PAC 10.2 member (#12 of 12) might bring them back down to earth. But I doubt it-----they've just been nauseating in gloating about belonging to the Conference of Champions. Pride goeth before the fall......

After all of the talk about Utah State not even being worthy of being on the same field as the Utes, Utah fans should just keep silent.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't BYU have a 2-for-1 with USU?

My prediction was pretty close "Aggies by 14+ at half and a battle in the 4th quarter".

That was one of the most nerve racking games I have ever attended. The Utes never ever had the lead but still they almost stole it at the end.

Aggies' Keeton is truly an amazing sophomore qb and USU's D is for real.

Night nite!!!

I always love the comments people make about if we didn't have that punt blocked, or if they didn't call that offensive pass interference we would have won the game. You can pick a handful of plays in EVERY football game erase them and get a different result. Unfortunately that is not how it works. We played the game we played and lost. Deal with it. This was not luck or an aberration. Utah State probably won the battle at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and they were in control of the game. Let's congratulate them and move on. We've got plenty to worry about if we want to beat BYU next week. Congrats USU you and Gary Andersen deserve it.

"I think one thing is very clear: the Aggies are back and the tri-rivalry in football in this state is clearly renewed."

Because USU barely won in OT at home? Winning once in 15 years vs BYU and Utah does not mean this is now a huge rivalry and it's returned. USU with its best team in years couldn't even get more than 7 wins last year and didn't win the WAC, which was the worst conference last year. Let's wait until USU consistently beats these teams, then it's a rivalry.

BYU is the most solid team and senior led. Beating them on the road will be MUCH harder than Utah at home. BYU looks incredible so far. USU won't beat BYU, but maybe next year.

Every year BYU fans complain that Whittingham games plans for BYU all offseason. Have to wonder if the Utes were looking past USU to the BYU game.

Also, Utah is learning what BYU found out last year. First year offensive coordinators have a learning curve to get through. Could be a rough year for the Utes.

Congrats Aggies, great win. Your team looks strong. Go get Wisconson.

Congrats to tha Aggies, they deserved the win, and on national tv to boot. Calm down fellow BYU fans, both teams are still dangerous and it will be tough playing in RES next week, lets not talk about blowouts until the teams actually play ok? Congrats again to the Aggies, your team earned it. This definitely wasn't Northern Colorado.

Some reality

utah is not as good as utah "fans" have proclaimed. usu is better than most people thought. The ref's did not "homer" the ute's. The utah coaches have done an embarrassingly poor job of recruiting at the qb position for several years and it is hurting them badly, last year and this year. You can't just ignore the single most important position on a football team and expect it to not hurt you.

I still expect a very tight game at res next week, the utah team has a lot of pride, they just lack talent at some very key positions. But playing BYU is a bowl game for utah, despite the attempts to claim otherwise from utah "fans". They get themselves sky high for that game so I expect them to be wound up and ready to go. I just don't know if the major lack of talent on offense is going to doom them once again.

Bitter much? The refs were your own. LOL
