How long are these homes going to remain in such close proximity and inside this danger zone around the refinery? We need the refinery but whoever authorized and allowed building permits for homes should be hung from the yardarm and forced to refund full value for any of the homes within a quarter mile of the refinery.
I home the city and county and state has created a mandated buffer zone around this and all oil refineries in Utah, why should these families be put a risk and endangered beyond even being able to get fire and property insurance on these homes?
Yea, I know the city offered to buy them out but not for their loans at huge losses and debt and to vacate and leave the hazard zone. Their meager generosity was intentional so most would not sell and stay indebted and in harms way for a 30 yr loan on property destroyed.
