It is an open and shut case. The officer was justified in using deadly force and the shooting review board will so rule.
There are circumstances under which the use of a taser would be appropriate but this wasn't one of them.
I feel bad for all involved. the officer was forced to shoot a man, now, even though it may be justified, he will still have to live with it. also, the man who was shot and his family will also have to live with it.

I have a friend on a police force here in the Salt Lake City area who shot and killed a man who made the mistake of pointing a gun at him. He sleeps well at night and quickly put the shooting behind him.
