I don't see how "political motivation" is the reason Turley's past conduct resulted in his removal from the city council and the charges brought against him. Provo is very conservative. There is rarely a liberal-conservative political divide there. And even if there was a political divide, Turley's case is purely criminal, not politically motivated.
The motivations for bringing the charges are irrelevant. Did he break the law or not? He is charged with seven counts of communications fraud, two counts of exploitation of a vulnerable adult and one count of pattern of unlawful activity.
He is either guilty of these charges or not. You can't claim as your defense "But the people who tattled on me don't like me!"
The only thing political about this is he a politician and all politicians think they are above the law.
