Kinda ironic that careless gunplay, nearly burnt Saratoga Springs up, and the evil feds had to step-in.
I believe it was school trust land that was burned up too, just like she wants to do with public schools.

I don't see anything funny about it, and neither did Deanna Patrick. Deanna Patrick, a 32-year old Dallas, Texas woman, called 911 on August 17th begging for help while her ex husband was beating her. Police did respond ..... 2 days later. They found her deceased in the bathtub of her residence.

Had she gone for her handgun like the home owner in Springville did she'd still be alive today. The only thing I find humorous is people that don't understand the concept of police response time.

Note to our anti 2nd Amendment friends: In all fairness it doesn't usually take police 2 days to respond to a 911 call. They always will, however, have time to put up crime scene tape and take photos of the deceased.

Ms. Love's position on guns has made me very hesitant to vote for her

What I find humorous is her hypocrisy.

Not your story of how a gun could have "saved the day," cause I could find a dozen more where some gun lovers children were the enemy in the home of an indiscriminate gun.

No, only a fool would make that suggestion. The intelligent man however knows and understands the limitations placed on the police.

On June 2008 the Supreme Court ruled that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm, even a woman who had obtained a court-issued protective order against a violent husband making an arrest mandatory for a violation.

And no, those of us with concealed carry permits have no absolutely no intention of saving your day. We expect you to use a cell phone when your life or the life of a loved one is on the line.

I suppose every politician needs to sound like one of the down home folks when out on the campaign trail. But if Mia Love aspires to legislate in Washington, she should more depth to her than a giddy fascination with firearms.

Rifleman, I fully support gun owners who are competent people who make a habit of honing their skills on the range. I certainly know people that make me feel safer knowing that they are carrying. I also know some that are always packing, but lack the maturity to grasp the magnitude of the power that they hold. They scare the heck out of me.

However, when the guy went walking around the Provo Mall last year with a rifle, or when the guy showed up at a political rally with a gun strapped to his leg in full view, the 2nd Amendment people fully supported them.

Yes, I am also sure that they are the minority of gun owners but that is the time to stand up against that kind of mentality, whether or not it was legal.

Gun advocates should be much more vocal in policing their own.

Yes, you absolutely correct, and every responsible gun owner fully agrees with you. The man in the Provo Mall you mentioned does not represent your typical gun owner. Truth be known your typical gun owner with a concealed carry permit leaves his or her handgun home the vast majority of the time because they are heavy and poke the person carrying it in the ribs or back. They have no intention or secret dream of saving the world from some crazed moviegoer.

Glad to see we're in agreement Rifleman, Mia's patting a man (Just like the Provo Mall Guy) on the back for flaunting his weapons in public to get a reaction, why else ask 'Does this make you uncomfortable?'

If carrying a Glock 9mm is what makes this home for Mia Love, her view of what America is about is vacuous for someone who wants to be a Federal lawmaker. I know I'm raining on her parade on the day she's the toast of the town in Tampa but when she gets back home, she might want to beef up her resume with an evening adult education course in American civics.

It is laughable to read some of these comments. Craig Clark, Happy Valley, it is comical to read these post. I love how you assume your knowledge of the incident reported here, it was a related story. Yet, you assume Mrs. Love has a "Giddy Fascination" about firearms, because she strikes up a casual conversation about a mans weapon and right to bear arms. You call her a "Hypocrite", and why actually? She supports our 2nd Amendment rights, where is the hypocrisy? And Happy is comparing out right murder, with a fire caused by a target shooter in Saratoga Springs. Even your left winger saviors are alright with target shooting. The big race to ban and chase for gun control by even you left wingers is the killing of innocent people. At least that is the cry every time something bad happens. Hypocrisy Happy? Choose the side you would like to be on, don't just throw things out because it sounds cool in your own mind. You just went backwards about your own stance. Fire and Murder are not equal. Plus the target shooter reported the fire and took responsibility for it. Murderers don't do that.

Romney and the republicans seem to forget who started two unfunded wars and passed an unfunded prescription drug bill. Does anyone think that Obama if at fault for almost 8 years of unfunded wars before he was elected president?

You felt that justice should not be served, because it was, as you say "unfunded". You say that the republicans have not told "the rest of the story"......

Why don't we have a conversation about ear-marks. You dems are dang good at hiding those on page 1000 of a bill. Why don't the dems "tell the rest of the story". We all would love to hear about all the tax increases and cuts from all the other things you promise only to be moot because of your thousands of ear marks.

And in regards to the national debt. It has doubled under Obama, can't blame that on a war, it is a small piece for the justification of America. If you are unhappy with unfunded wars, Afghanastan is always looking for new residents.

You have me confused with someone else on the second score. I didn't call her a hypocrite. But based on her own words as quoted by the Deseret News, she did strike me as having a giddy fascination with firearms. Somewhat in the intellectual tradition of Sarah Palin.
