Awesome. Good to know that there is still some decency left out there. KSL knows its viewers and this show would have received such a low rating of viewers that it will do much better showing something else.

Whoever made the decision has the thanks of my entire family!

KSL, do you EVER watch these shows that you broadcast?

Dr Phil (Jerry Springer with a touch of fake psychiatry)
Law & Order SVU (sexual situations are the basis for this entire series)

You are all as bad as Larry Miller, who wouldn't show "Brokeback Mountain" in his theaters, but instead showed a sexual-masochistic near X-rated chop-em-up piece of filth called HOSTEL.

Head in the sand is a good business decision in utah.

"Simpson cited crude dialogue, explicit content and offensive characterizations as underlying reasons KSL will not air 'The New Normal."

I just watched the extended preview and I have to say I can totally see why KSL would determine this show to have more crude dialogue and explicit content compared to such uplifting shows like day of our lives, grimm and Dr Phil.

KSL has the right to decide what it wants to air but at least try to be honest about your motivations.

NBC should pull its affiliation with KSL. KSL will not show Saturday Night Live either. If you refuse to play their shows, you should not be part of the NBC network! Period!

You show Dr Phil and Law & Order SVU, just two of your showings that feature sex and reports of violence in every show.

Larry Miller woudn't show Brokeback Mountain, but he showed HOSTEL instead ... a film full of sexual violence that many other theaters refused to show.

Violence is OK"
Like my 91-year-old daddy always said: "It's OK to cut off a [body part], just don't kiss it.";

Great job!

Keep up the good work guys!

No need to support such things.

Although accepted, it is not normal.

Yay!

Let's be real about this show and why it won't be aired in Utah. The New Normal centers around a gay couple having a baby with a surrogate mother. It's produced by gay producer Ryan Murphy (Glee),and the lead actor played Elder Price in the Book of Mormon on Broadway. Three strikes...you're out!

Like it or not family structures are changing and shows like "Modern Family" on ABC, "The New Normal" on NBC, and the upcoming " The Fosters" on ABC are reflecting that change.

Thank you KSL!

To Hutterite:

This is a great business decision that has nothing to do with KSL management having their heads in the sand. It is called positioning and branding and is little more than business 101. With so many media outlets taking the other side of this trade, the market is "long" outlets that will provide this culturally caustic material, and there is little for KSL to gain by crowding the trade further. Instead, they chose to offer an alternative to their target market that many will happily buy, and enhanced their brand message and value. Great business sense if you ask me.

Thank you, Jeff. Thank you KSL, for your decision here. This show could not be a "new" normal but rather an extreme version of someone's fantasy. The concept concerns me deeply. "Normal" suggests representation of the general population and culture. This show is not that.
Television is struggling to find real entertainment and these extremes just aren't cutting it for me.
Thank you, again, KSL, for your efforts.

non believer is correct.
KSL should just drop its network affiliation.

KSL should become an all-LDS channel for the faiithful, and let another corporation come in that has no bias against certain issues.

To the unreasonable person:

KSL's decision has nothing to do with bias or any one issue. They understand their audience, and want to deliver product that will meet that need. NBC programming is not take it or leave it. Much of their programming is fantastic. Just because one program is not a good fit for KSL's target segment, doesn't mean KSL should bow to a clattering, vocal, tiny portion of the population who has an axe to grind with a segment of the population that would prefer a bit more traditional values tilt to the programming.

BTW - there are many ways to see this low-brow comedy. You don't need to rely solely on KSL. Enjoy.

There is so much crud on all TV these days that there's hardly anything worth watching. Thank goodness for PBS!

And any time any station pulls the plug on any of the sewage that passes for entertainment these days, I say more power to them.

As long as KUTV continues to air NCIS & NCIS: LA; I could care less.

Other than the British comedies on Ch 7, what on PBS is so wonderful?

Normal is another persons definition of whats socially acceptable.

So, for all giving KSL props, don't be such tool boxes.
