Utah-- #2 best state to do business. West Virginia is #48th (per CNBC) Forbes lists Provo as the best city for business and careers because of (Stone Cold Sober) BYU... Hmm..Coincidence?

Yes Dr. Strangelove, Congratulations. Alcohol has caused my family lots of grief, even though to my knowledge only one brother consumes it. A drunk driver ran through a stop sign and hit two cars, with my mother in the second car. She had lipstick on her shirt. Think about that, lipstick on your shirt. A cousin while crossing the road with his wife and two kids was run over by drunk driver. He is alone now.

My wife grew up in a broken home with an alcoholic grandmother caregiver. Propriety dissuades me from telling the stories, but it was a profoundly humiliating experience.

Alcohol clouds judgement causing people to do things that they would never, ever do and hurt others in ways that they would never do if sober. Being in a drunken stupor is the antithesis of academic achievement. A true and hearty congratulations to my alma mater, regardless of what critics say.

By the way, isn't alcohol expensive? I guess they have to use their student loans for something.

BYU may not be for everyone, but for those that are willing to make the sacrifices to be there, it is an amazing experience. I am sure there will always be those who mock BYU for its honor code and they may get a laugh or two, if their jokes are clever. So, mock away, but please make it funny, otherwise, you come across as insensitive.

Utah has had jokes about top consumption of jello. For a family gathering I made grape jello using wild grapes growing on a ditch-bank. It was consumed as hastily as some people consume alcohol. Loved the atmosphere!

On a more sober note, where soberness is absent, I have a son who was raised by adoptive parents (and contacted me much later). He has few regrets about his upbring, but an alcoholic father is one (though he appreciates the fact that he was never abusive). Now, much to his dismay, he has learned that his bio-dad has an alcohol problem. That was even harder on him. I think every family has its stories of sadness over something that has happened because of alcohol or other substance use and abuse. It is unspeakably horrible.

I am proud of BYU for this an many other reasons.

It is a great attribute for which to have a consistent record! Keep it up BYU students.

Would be great for other colleges to tie BYU for this honor.
