New policy celebrated by students with a dream
so they if they are "approved" to work here in the US of A then if they
are passed over for a job for whatever reason they can scream discrimination but
if a US citizen is passed over for a job that is given to a person who has a
work visa and less skills the US citizen can't sue on the grounds of
discrimination. The US of A is becoming very ANTI-american.Enough of
our own citizens are out of work and so those seeking to work in this country
who are here on a work visa shouldn't be the ones given the few jobs that
are availible. It's time that this country's leaders woke up and
smelled the coffee and employers hire those who were born here. Stop catering to
those who's only language is spanish and making it a requirement for a
person seeking work to HAVE to speak it.
This is terrific! It's like Ellis Island Part Deux! Congratulations, you
guys! Live up to your bright potential!
The document mills are running 24-7. He made the offer only good for 2 years so
they would be forced to take whatever slight risk might be involved in
registering to vote. Both Obama and the illegals know that the game is up if he
loses in November.Every Deferred Action that is granted should be
accompanied by the permanent deportation of the illegal alien parents who caused
amnesty comes in many forms. Why should we have to pay for their free health
care, food education etc.. They are here illegally.
Without commenting one way or the other about the wisdom of using an executive
order by which (as this article states) President Obama "requested" this
deferment policy, and without commenting on whether the policy itself, in some
form, should have been passed by the legislative branch of government and passed
on to the president for signature into law with provisions approved by the
people, through their representatives, I would note just this one small point
(quote):"I will be able to stay in this country if I want,
because I was thinking of going back to Mexico or going to some European country
or Australia because I would have had to go somewhere if I can't work
here," Arteaga said. "That is the final piece of everything I ever
needed, just being able to work."(End quote.)Sounds
to me like the self-deportation idea Mr. Romney was talking about (which may or
may not be used to beat him over the head at some point in the next couple of
months).May the dreams of these young people be realized. And may
the dreams of all those who seek to come to this country properly be realized.
more voters for the libs. what a country. the community organizer and chief
should be proud.
These kids were brought here when they were children. We've already paid
for their public education, health care, whatever, to get them to the point
where they can start contributing to the system. Strictly from an economic
standpoint, why in the world would we want them to leave now? They're part
of the generation that will be paying for your social security.
I love the Latino people. That said, I can't help thinking that
we are bending over backwards to give preferred status to people who are here
illegally. I see that preferred status carrying over to the workplace, and to
college scholarships and other aid, giving them an unfair advantage over my kids
who had the 'misfortune' of being born here legally, and white.I myself as a middle-aged white male have experienced reverse
discrimination by PC people with a (illegal) quota to fill. I can imagine it
will only be worse for my kids.Oh, one last thing: 1.7 Million are
eligible? I think every credible source puts the number at between 12 and 16
The individuals applying for this program are mostly innocent and deserving
victims brought here illegally by their parents. The problems were not their
doing, but that of their parents.Although most of those in the story
may well qualify under the rules of the program, many more will apply using
forged documents. History has shown that the demand for fake IDs is easily
filled, and a new stack of stuff to qualify for this program will be no problem
at all for the forgers. Enforcement at the border is the necessary
first step to preserve the rule of law, not easily scammed incremental amnesty
schemes.Legal immigrants have always been welcome in our country,
but illegal immigration is still a crime that should be punished.
What a good idea... now, when the two year reprieve is over, the government will
have the names and addresses of the illegals to make it infinitely easier to
round them up for deportation. Cudos, Obama and Napolitano. And all the while
I thought you were pro-illegal immigration.
It would be hypocritical for those of us with European ancestry to deny the
opportunities of this country to newer generations of would-be immigrants. As much as we love visitors to our home, we prefer that they come to the
front door and knock, and not sneak in through a back window. We need to be
allowed to shake hands with those who knock and call the police on those who
sneak in and not be asked to feed and entertain them. The issue seems
complicated and I agree with the posting that suggested the stupidity in kicking
some of these out now that they already gone through our system and are on the
verge of becoming contributing citizens. But we really need to discourage the
illegal entry in the first place. Not rewarding it would be a great start.
This plan is trying to provide a way for kids who were brought here by their
parents and have lived here as basically US citizens for their whole lives a
chance to actually become legal US citizens and a reasonable cost. Again, most
of these were and are kids, not the parents of those kids that many of you so
obviously dispise. The audaciousness of those who were "lucky enough"
to be born in this county - oh, by the way, remember the Natives? - is
mindboggling. How anyone with the slightest amount of compassion could say,
Okay, you were brought here by your parents when you were very young, or maybe
you were born here by illegal parents, now you are 16, too bad, you must leave,
tells a great deal about the right-wing contingent in this country. If this is
how Mitt thinks, that would be a reason for me not to vote for him.
Obama has made himself king. And, as a by-product he has garnered millions of
Hispanic votes to assure his reappointment as King-in-Chief. (I'm sure he
has contemplated how he might do away with elections so he can be
King-for-Life.)There are federal laws on the books about illegal
immigration. These laws were duly passed by Congress and signed into law by the
then president. Obama has thumbed his nose at these laws, contrary to the oath
of office that he took when he entered the White House, wherein he swore to
protect the Constitution and uphold the laws of the land. Furthermore, preferential treatment of these people is unconstitutional under
the 'Equal Protection' clause. This amnesty program for only those 15
to 31 year-old is preferential treatment. As was the so-called Dream Act.We have 15 million unemployed American citizens looking for work and
drawing billions in unemployment checks. We don't need illegal immigrants,
regardless of how they got here, taking jobs badly needed by our own citizens.
We don't need amnesty programs. We don't need Dream Acts... What we
do need is someone to be impeached.
It's interesting how many here were the ones screaming that they "get
legal or get out" and now that they are getting somewhat legal, the only way
they can, the same people are screaming "Stop it!!!" I don't think
you will ever be happy for another. You don't want anyone to experience
relief nor do you ever try to see any other persons point of view. It creates a
very discouraging view of the world, and in this case, of some in the Church.
Before you add the "has nothing to do with Church" comments, it has
everything to do with your faith.
The level of blatant racism demonstrated in many of these comments is
disappointing and shameful. Kids, through no fault of their own, where being
hurt. Think this through and be reasonable. Take a close look at the number of
Hispanic names in those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of these young
people are filling the American dream and are much more in line with American
values than those attempting to block their ability to become U.S. citizens.
Hard work and commitment to family are strongly held Hispanic values that fit
will in our growing society.
This is simply sickening. Once again, our POTUS has decided that spitting in the
face of the people who have died defending this Great Nation is a small price to
pay for what will amount to a guaranteed win in November. And how can he claim
that ROmney sends jobs overseas when he is giving the same jobs to people in
America who will send nearly all that they make south of the border. I've
seen it happen. 10 in a single family home means very few bills, and 75% of the
paycheck leaves the country never to return...
my question is "How is Daisy Magadeno able to have a job if she's here
illeglly? Why would she have paycheck stubs?
@SqweebieMy sense is, there are several ways including getting a
fake Social Security number and other documents which the DNews has reported has
happened. Many wonder how a certain unnamed person (changed to
hopefully satisfy the DNews monitor) got his SS number. It has been reported
that his number starts with a number for the state of Connecticut, a state he
had never been in at the time.Another way is for an employer to
unlawfully hire. But, on the other hand, if a employer had less than 30
employees the employer is not required to use E-Verify on new hires. So, go figure.
We have fought for what is true and lives have been sacrificed for this freedom,
not to have politics enter to win reelection points, This is a classic BO move
There are programs available to help these adults get straight with the law at
18. Sadly, they ignore it and demand society rewards them instead. If Obama believes these adults were wronged, he has to believe that their
parents broke the law and deport them. Truth of the matter is Obama knows
amnesty for 11.5 million would never pass, so he is piecemealing amnesty by
executive order for a group at a time. He needs the Hispanic votes,
and will harm Americans to get it. 8.3% unemployment, and he brings 3,5 million
here each year on legal visas and green cards. Now he is adding to the mix with
2 million more. Some jobs program.
These kids cannot vote once they get deferred action and they never will under
this program. They are only under this temporary program at the discretion of
the executive branch. I think the people who are most upset are
business owners who underpaid illegal workers. Now, if eligible, these workers
will get real social security numbers and the employers will be forced to pay
legitimate wages and withhold taxes and social security. Most of the
individuals benefitting from the deferred action already have jobs so jobs will
not be taken away. Rather, it should be a tax revenue boon as employers will be
forced to withhold. E-verify should be coupled with this program.
