So much of our tax money is wasted on ridiculous programs, we should have a better resource for victims of violent crimes.
How come Utah's Medicaid program doesn't help this woman, who is jobless?
Isn't this what it's for?
A Layton child is accidentally killed, Trolley Square shooting victims are still suffering, and three people are shot last night in Sandy - one is dead. Do you think this is what America's founding fathers envisioned when they drafted the Second Amendment? It is a national disgrace that the NRA has the power over our elected official to the point that they are afraid to do anything to prevent the ongoing slaughter of U.S. Citizens. According to the Center for Disease Control, 31,000 people in America will be killed with a firearm. Most will be accidental, suicides, and murders amongst friends and family. Only a small number will be killed by a stranger. Google CDC and check the number. 31,000 people each year. Why do we sit idly by and do nothing. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The corrupt power of the NRA is directly responsible for some the these deaths - and yet our political will is zero. It is a national disgrace.
I know it isn't much, Carolyn, but I have prayed for you, specifically and individually, every day since the shooting. And I am appalled that in our great country, someone in your situation has no chance to afford the surgeries and medication it would take to heal. I am ashamed of our country for that . . .
