I don't know if Reno really knew the gas was not free, but either way he is guilty of being STUPID.
@Bob
Easy there Bob, like you never have done something "stupid".
Reno,
The thing that I enjoyed reading about is that you have taken full responsibility for your actions. I wish more people would learn how to do that, this country and world would be a lot better off.
all of them got off very easily. very lucky they should thank the company and the judge. forever in their debt, no pun intended.
Guess he didn't get the memo about living right on and off the field.
@ Proud Ute:
Didn't you get the memo? Now that you're in the mighty pac 10.2, your slogan is "better than thou." You all raised the bar above the ground (about shin high) with the new logos and such. Keep casting stones because, after all, it's acceptable where you come from, right? Anyway, commenting on anything to do with BYU is way beneath you. You are much bigger than a petty rivalry, correct? Go troll Colorado newspapers to judge Buff' players. Hmmmm, "Proud" might need to be compelled to be humble. Go ask your former star running back Jamal Anderson about his off-field antics before commenting on anyone else's shortcomings.
bballjunkie, I don't think Wiley said anything that Reno himself wouldn't say about his actions. I've always really liked Reno and he has always seemed to be one of the good guys (and I still think he is), but he clearly exercised bad judgement in this case.
cooperpug,
Not coming down hard on him ( I agree with him)I am just stating a fact that we have all done something "stupid" in our own lives.
bballjunkie:
When someone does something stupid, like we all do, it's fair game for criticism. And this case was a pretty stupid thing. Wow. Some people do stupid things like trip in public or fudge tax deductions. Others steal thousands of dollars of gasoline even though they are millionaires. You be the judge. PS: It's easy to accept full responsibility after you got caught and that's the best way to mitigate punishment. Have a nice day.
It seems that our culture is so quick to condemn. I know we need to obey the laws of the land, but I also wish we could be more forgiving. There are way too many civil suits in our country in my opinion. We're just willing to let anything go.
Sorry I meant to say we're just unwilling to let anything go.
Stealing gas is a "good life experience" to have; now people know who you really are?? No credibility in the community, and sadly with your own family.
I have to confess that I stole a lot of gas from my employer (grocery store). And that's from all the cans of Pork & Beans I thought they were free. They were about to be thrown away in the dumpster. At least I tried to share it with other fellow employees. Oh well, I try not to be too serious about this gas thing. I love those guys.
@Making Sense
You have some pretty harsh words toward Proud Ute, who was merely making a reference to Austin Collie's condescending remarks toward the Utes after his team had just defeated his rival's. At the time it was akin to pouring salt on their wound. But quoting the Bible to make your point? And yet in the next breath taking a cheap shot at the Utes ("pac 10.2")? And an unrelated reference to Jamal Anderson? What about Gary Crowton and the things that went on at BYU under his tenure?
Keeping with the subject at hand, true fans on both sides of the rivalry only want the best for Mahe, good young man whohad a momentary lapse of judgement.
GoRed,
Yep, that was one reply where you definitely just shake your head and let pass. He obviously had a lot he felt compelled to get off his chest about topics totally unrelated to my little dig.
That comment by Collie (hope he can get his health and career back on track) and Max Hall's ill-advised and almost maniacal rant are public record and fair game.
Good luck to Reno, I can't understand what he was thinking but he is doing what has to be done to put this behind him and for that I wish him the best.
People, people, people...remember when you point a finger, there are three more fingers pointing back at you.
@Penguin Inc,
Dude thanks for the life lesson. Read the post and other post as well . Chill out, and by the way you throw the first stone then because we all know your good..Have a nice day! and here is one to top :)
