That's a messed up guy. Too bad the left is fighting the death penalty, I think this guy should be a candidate for it. Especially coming from a position of trust.
I don't care what political party or amount of wealth or circumstances etc. When you choose to destroy other peoples lives.....
Any money he raised should be given back to the donors, where they can give their money to something else or pay down their bills.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are more victims out there.
Disturbing.
What a creep.
Just goes to show that creeps inhabit all demographic groups in society.
Be careful, a temple recommend or not. Church membership or not. GOP membership or not.
Good advice:
meet in public places
drive yourself
double-date?
always inform others where you are going, with whom and when you will return.
Pre-arrange to have a friend/family member check in with you at a certain time?
I don't know.
It's scarey out there.
I was Greg’s roommate at BYU and, somehow, this recent development doesn’t surprise me. Greg seemed to have a dull conscience back in those days.

Ted Bundy was active in local politics as a student at the U and was looked up to by many of his associates. Don't trust anybody, especially those who try to overly impress with their church membership, wealth, political or family connections.
Wow...this guy is sick and needs help...in prison...for a long time.
Politics, religion and university don't need to be even mentioned because men of this ilk are in every society, religion and political party.
It's called Sex Addiction and he's a classic example. He threw his family, status and job away for his addiction. Now, he's going to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Defenders of party and faith,
The DesNews, like all serious print media, owes its readers a full telling of any news story. When a given story includes a prominent public figure, the reporter owes an explanation of the nature and origins of that figure's prominence.
This particular public figure is prominent because he's a hanger-on and gladhander of powerful politicians in Utah. He acheives this by fundraising for the majority party.
A paradox of this public figure's alleged crimes also lies in his bio: the BYU education normally speaks of quiet composure and placid lifestyles. In this case, that backround evidently did not.
These things add up to what we know as "news."
Now, go ahead and get over yourselves.
It is germaine to the story that he claimed to be a GOP fundraiser and had he been any other party's fundraiser, that, too, would have been fair to mention. So is his faith, if he has one, and whatever other facts are there about him. Why? Not to cause biased thinking regarding any of these classifications, but to remind the readers of this article and others like it that these accused offenders--remember, he has not been tried yet--belong to no one faith, party, income level, job classification, age, even gender. The real good news is this: it is news because it isn't something happening all the time everywhere. It is news because most of the time we can conduct our lives and not experience this. That doesn't mean there is no need to be cautious, it means we don't need to be paranoid. And when this does happen, we need to do what needs to be done to see that fairness and justice happen.
It seems ironic to me that the newspaper owned and controlled by the Mormon Church would use the GOP label. Doesn't the church complain when news outlets use the Mormon adjective to describe perpetrators?
Fascinating hypocrisy.
Throw away the key.
I have a wife and seven daughters and it is difficult to verbalize my feelings toward this evil, pathetic human being.
Unfortunately, I hear of these types of atrocities nearly every day. They happen just about anywhere you can imagine, just like the guy trying to kidnap the little girl walking down the street, in broad daylight, with her brother. It was on the national news today and was caught on video.
Every female should find the most effective non-lethal weapon they can find, one they would feel comfortable carrying in their hand in a public place. It has to be something they are willing and able to have in hand while in public, not in a purse or glove compartment.
My sincere condolences to the woman who were attacked and to their families.
@There you go again,
The reason it's mentioned that he is a GOP fundraiser is because that is how he met/lured some of his victims. He also used that as credibility to all of his victims and his dating profile.
"One of the four women first went to the Wasatch County Attorney's Office but prosecutors there declined to file charges, Gill said. She then went to the Unified Police Department in March where investigators started putting together pieces of information from several alleged victims."
So why was this case not given more attention in Wasatch Co.? That's what I would like to know.
One more thing...if someone is looking for a victim for this type of crime, the age or marital status of the victim is unimportant, for the most part. It never hurts to be with a friend or relative as much as possible if a person feels nervous or is going somewhere she has never been before. And if she has a cellphone, be sure the GPS is on, at least for 911 calls. Also, behave as if you have business where you are, but not like you own the place. If you are going with anyone, even another woman, if it's a new acquaintance, it's wise not to go alone, and to be sure others know. Many teens have found themselves in horrific places going to spend time with a "new friend" who ended up being the front person for someone with a criminal agenda. These things have been documented in mainstream news reports. It only takes once.
If ever hard-core member of the GOP would stop blaming ever evil sin in the world on liberals and Democrats -- this would be a non-issue.
People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
His arrogance on Fb so repelled me that I never attended his events. I'm grateful he's been caught. There are no excuses for what he's done. He's a serial rapist. However, if we don't acknowledge what brought him to this we lose a chance to prevent the next Greg Peterson. Born to this end? Maybe but probably not. If I read correctly, he's from Cache County. Are you aware of the higher than average cases of organized sexual abuse that takes place there? Most pedophiles and or rapists are actually victims too. Doesn't excuse his choices. Like I said, if we don't learn from this we're condemning future victims.
Greg Peterson is going to jail where he belongs. I hope other victims (because we know there has to be many more.) come forth to help with their healing process.
To the victims, this is not your fault. Get help. Don't do this alone. Many of us have suffered through this. Many of us are stronger for it. You're not alone.
The political activism of the accused is relevant, as it is a reminder that politics attracts sociopaths who seek social respectability as a cover for their predatory behavior. My primary concern is that party affiliations are not reported consistently; every conservative activist associated with a crime seems to get that mentioned, when the fact that someone is a progressive activist is routinely ignored (see, for instance, the news coverage on Jon Corzine, which has routinely downplayed his very close connections with the Obama administration).
This is also a reminder that sociopaths routinely target believers, as their trusting social networks make them easy victims. Jesus warned his followers against "wolves" in "sheep's clothing"; as Paul reminded his followers, "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers . . . For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you". Those who are in ecclesiastical positions of responsibility, in particular, need to be on guard.
Msny who say the fact that this man was a republican should not be mentioned. Do you recall
the Franklin Cover up (book) The Black rising star of the Republican Party, who sang at
The Ronald Reagan political event in Texas was taking young boys from Boystown in Omaha and
flying them to DC for the pleasure of perverted politicians, also young girls. Alecia Owens was one of the victims. This Black Larry King ran the Franklin Savings and loan in Omaha. The Democrats are equally as bad.Barney Frank can attest to that. There is good and
evil in every group without regard to race, religion or political affiliation. Many who appear innocent just have not yet been exposed.
Let me ask all those who want to downplay his political affiliation and connections. Which part of all that is untrue? Should the DN cherry-pick information that is reported or should they report all facts of a story and let the reader make their own conclusions and determinations?
This is when it's difficult to follow the counsel from Apr/12 Gen Conf: Don't judge others because their sins are different from yours. Of course, the demands of justice must take place for this predator. But forgiveness, for those affected, will be a struggle.
