As a pilot, I believe this is a very bad idea. We are talking about unmanned drones operated by the government - which pays $500 for a hammer, and can't balance its own budget. Remember the oxymoron, "military intelligence"?
Unfortunately I believe it will only be when a midair collision brings down a commercial airliner that people will finally realize how bad an idea this is - - but by then the situation will be entrenched, and irrevocable.
So this is what the Revolutionary was all about?
