Having spent a career with 12 to 16 year olds, I can tell you what they have to say about this career path. Math is hard, I just want to know the answer, why can't we just move on? This entire generation has been infected with the one answer fits all syndrome. They are not curious, nor are they persistent in following a task through a process. The skill set for IT jobs requires attributes that our children are not practicing in school, or life.

Someone needs to tell these kids to develop an aptitude for IT and then to work their way up in IT. I hold a degree in Elem Ed but have been a DBA for the past 16 years. Money's great and I get multiple calls every month looking for me to make a job change. And I avoided a nasty CS degree program getting here.
