Tre and Jarveon, come to BYU!

Even new BYU recruits are all obsessed with the University of Utah.

My how things have changed.

You are the one sending our recruits letters.

Go Cougars!

GoRed – that is a pretty funny comment coming from a Ute fan posting on a BYU article.

The kid gave a verbal commitment to BYU and Utah sends him a recruiting letter. I think burning that letter was brilliant. Tell Kyle not to spend all his money recruiting our players and you may be able to upgrade your new “offices” to double wides.

@loveme. You mean like the way Bronko doesn't talk to Utah State etc. players while serving their missions?

@Cougar Claws

Like how BYU sent Riley Nelson letters while he was on his mission (and still locked in to USU)?

Is BYU the pot or the kettle here?

duggity, Who is Bronko? Can you name one player any BYU coach has talked to while that player was on a mission? Of course you can't because it has never happened. Please stick with facts not fantasies.

Because BYU is "The University of Utah"!

Mr Kearsley's posting the picture of him burning the Utah letter and the language that he used in his post and in response to those who responded to him was quite a poor example of what BYU and LDS athletes are supposed to portray. I don't think that is the kind of exposure the school is looking for. Pretty disappointing.

Kids do silly things. I'm sure when you were in high school you did stupid things too. Just read your comment.

Your welcome.

pot calling the kettle black UU32

The language he used is very mild compared to what's spoken commonly at the U, and that's not even in the same universe compared to the endless stream of "language" heard in RES and in the HC.

It's nothing new to see players burn a rivals letter. Look at the guy going to Michigan how he burned OSU's letter. Major, national attention.

"Even new BYU recruits are all obsessed with the University of Utah."

Burning a letter from the school is "obsessed?" People like you constantly posting on BYU articles is the definition of obsession pal. We need to give all the utes who post all the time a bottle of cologne...we can call it ObsessYn and color it blue.

It's because of guys like this that BYU has won the Deseret Duel 4 of the last 5 times. They love the rivalry and want to win. Glad this guy has passion for the rivalry, not just hatred.

@gored

That was a really weak take on this. Fail.

@BC

Nice justification there, so it's ok for an LDS athlete to use bad language because it's worse at RES? Are you serious?

He needs to take lessons from Jabari Parker, another LDS high school kid who has a higher profile and saying all the right things.

Ya gotta love the red and blue rivalry. The red is agast at the antics of a blue recruit. The blue are smiling big time.

But what would have happened if the blue recruit been red and burned a blue letter. He would be a hero among the red and the blue would be agast.

Funny thing this rivalry.

Sounds like the Kearsley kid is great fit for byU. Good luck.

sammyg - isn't BYU supposed to be above all that? That is all I am saying. No doubt kids do silly things. Who didn't? But BYU holds itself to a higher standard - which I very much appreciate as a member of the church. Just would hope that a high profile recruit like Kearsley would bring good pub to the church - not negative pub. Be in the world and not of it - right? Rise Up? Be an ambassador for the church -- that is the whole reason BYU plays intercollegiate athletics. I'm sure Bronco will have a few words with him.

Keeping it classy, Kearsley..........Too bad his actions were not original. I love this stuff, though. Bulletin board material. What this kid does not realize is he is putting another log on the fire....

Compare ute fans to the Cougs at their home stadiums. Was Max right?

How can he add logs to a fire that Utah is extinguishing? Locker room material for a game that the Utes are running away from?
