I hate to rush through summer, BUT GIMME SOME FOOTBALL! I can't wait for the coming season!
10th out of 12? In a very weak basketball conference to boot. Based on the assesment given by the writer there is not much optimism utah will ever be competitive in basketball. Kinda sad considering how good the program once was. But they have sold their soul to be a middle tier football program rather than an upper tier basketball program so they are getting what they set out to get I suppose.
Duckhunter:
Don't be so frantic and emotional. For starters, Football is THE driving force behind ALL athletic programs West of the Mississippi River, so moving to the Pac-12 wasn't "selling our soul". Only the most jealous and desperate of Y-nation could come to that ridiculous conclusion.
Additionally, the MWC has been a better basketball league than the Pac-10/12 for the last couple of years...ESPECIALLY our lone season in the Pac-12 [2011-12]. Utah hasn't been a top-tier basketball program since Andrew Bogut left, and even at THAT we haven't been the same since Majerus left. If the Basketball schools in the MWC were superior to the programs in the Pac-12, and we were the 2nd worst Basketball school in the Pac-12....wouldn't we have been WORSE in the MWC? And if/when the Pac-12 DOES retake the title of "best in the West", wouldn't that provide Utah with better recruiting?
Still smarting over being rejected by the Pac-10/12 and the Big 12, huh?
Haha!
Mid-majors forever.
@naval vet
Uh.....just because utah was less crappy 2 years ago then they were last year doesn't have anything to do with the conferences. It has everything to do with utah getting worse each year regardless of the conference they are in. They might not have won a single game in the mwc last season, at least in the incredibly weak pac12 they got a couple. Nice try at distortion but as usual you failed.
