I think it's silly how many of my fellow Cougar fans and many Utah fans argue about who is going to land Flowers, when he'll probably go to Oklahoma State. BYU rarely lands a top tier Safety (fingers crossed anyway), and it seems like Utah hasn't shown him a good amount of love. None of you know where he's going to go.

Of course we don't, he doesn't even know yet. It is fun to razz ute "fan" hypocrites though. Enjoy the ride.

Duckhunter never comments on articles about recruits = only about 5 or 10 times per article.

Sad really.

carnak, remember it's "almost never" that duck comments on a recruit.

Bluto:

"If a recruit wants to see an actual Waterford Crystal National Championship Trophy or a Heisman Memorial Trophy, Outland Trophies (2), Davey O'Brien and Sammy Baugh Trophies
(11 of them), Steve Young's Jim Thorpe Trophy, Super Bowl and NFL MVP Trophies, not to mention 7 College Hall of Famers, along with their 60+ All-Americans (16 Consensus), then drive to Provo."

According to Rivals, Utah has out-recruited the Indy-WACers 5 yrs in a row. Perhaps recruits just aren't as interested in programs with dusty accolades, and prefer instead more recent accomplishments, as that really is more relevant as far as they're concerned. And that's probably why top-flight 4- and 5-star Football recruits don't flock to Princeton anymore. Perhaps today's recruits don't think Lavell Edwards is going to coach them up into the NFL anymore. Whitt might, but then again, that's probably why Kyle's last 5 recruiting classes were rated higher than Bronco's.

Duck doesn't distort anything. He just takes it all out of context. Blue goggles. Its cool, to each his own.

@carnal and utahcountyute

I comment when I choose to. What I usually don't comment about is if they are any good or not because I admit I don't know. I don't know if this kid is the next Ronnie Lott or can't walk and chew gum so I don't pretend that I do know. I leave that sort of hyperbole to deluded utah "fans" who think that just because they read scout or rivals and maybe watch a youtube highlight or two that they can definitively say every single recruit utah gets is going to the nfl, be in the pro bowl, wind up in the hall of fame, etc.

Now if I know a kid personally I'll tell you guys what I think about him. And I'm more than happy to make mocking comments on recruiting articles about hypocritical utah "fans" that know nothing. That is fun and really has nothing to do with the recruits themselves, just the dimbulb utah "fans" that make it amusing for me to make comments about them. Kinda like I'm doing right now.

LOL!

I was just commenting on what some cougar fan said about Weddle you guys never need to question what side I'm on, played for the U for 4 years and then went on to coach for 5 years. I have been a Ute and even a Redskin, I go back my entire life (literally). Duckhunter, Bluto, sammyg, are the guys that make this so much fun for me.

I will make sure in the future that I express myself much better for you guys, but don't have to question what color I bleed I've been there I have done it and have been a part of it.

I didn't distort anything, Iwuoted the kid who said he was "pressured" to commit to utah. Who did the "pressuring" is irrelevent.

---------

It's clear from the article that a Utah commit, Fakailoatonga, is strongly being pressured by BYU to decommit.

If the kid wants to decommit an go to BYU or any other school so be it. If he has decommited then one would think Scouts and Rivals would not list him as a "Solid Verbal" Utah commit.

But maybe you know more since you coached the kid.

@uteology

Can you even read? The kid is quoted right in the article as saying he was pressured to commit to utah. I didn't make it up, I don't know him, I simply read the article. The article said he has "backed away" from that committment. I don't know what else to tell you, it's all right there in the article.

The thing is I actually understand what recruiting is, you apparently do not. The schools that want kids put pressure on them to go to their school, they ALL do it. You have never read a single comment from me claiming BYU is any different in this regard than anyone else. It is utah "fans" on here that post claiming BYU pressures kids as if that is any different than any other school. Maybe the arguments BYU uses are different, so what? They use what they have to use just like utah does and just like everyone else.

It is just one more instance of ute "fan" hypocrisy which I so love to point out. In the meantime go back and read the article. It is all there in quotes from the kid himself.

"According to Rivals, Utah has out-recruited the Indy-WACers 5 yrs in a row."

Who are the "Indy-WACers"? It can't be BYU because according to rivals they lead Utah for recruits this year (48 to 57). This is BYU's first recruiting class after experiencing a year of independence. A 48 ranking isn't amazing but it's not bad considering how young the cougars are right now (e.g. how few scholarships they have available to hand out). Also, I would expect that at least a couple of the current recruits (which include Talon Shumway, Dallin Leavitt, and Brayden Kearsley) will be bumped up from three to four stars this fall. Talk all the smack you want about BYU, the fact is that you continue to talk about BYU because they are the most exciting team in the mountain west region to follow and watch. Go Cougs!

Give me a break-they may be the most exciting to you. And really how do you explain exciting to a Ute, Boise, Oregon, or any other BCS school. I'll tell you after watching that team of yours last year the word "exciting" should not be used in any statement made about BYU.

Clearly you don't follow Rival/Scout recruiting very closely. If you did, you know bYu always start the recruiting year ranked in the 30-40 range and fall as other teams aquire more/better prospects.

"...according to rivals [the cougars] lead Utah for recruits this year (48 to 57)."

So what's your point? That the Utes DIDN'T post superior recruiting classes in each of the past 5 seasons? Go look again!

As for leading Utah in the 2013 recruiting....this happens EVERY YEAR! Bronco has a fire sale on Football scholarships prior to current season, then forbids his recruits from talking to other programs. Utah is more methodical in their recruiting practices, and push LATE into the upcoming season, with a strong push once our season ends.

Last year, in June, when the first recruiting classes were ranked by Rivals, the Indy-WACers ranked #28, whereas the Utes were outside the Top-50. But once all the ink dried on "Letter of Intent Day", it was the UTEs who finished with the 28th-ranked recruiting class, whereas YOUR program fell outside the Top-50. How's THAT for flipping the scripts?

I even remember back in your 2010 "Jake Heaps" class hearing your fans gloat of the superior class all the way up to LOI Day. But again, once the ink dried, you fell behind your big brother on the Hill.
