When approached with candor and a lack of shame or embarrassment, most teens are open and interested in what their parents have to say about sex. But these are not one-time discussions. Parents need to establish and encourage an open and ongoing dialogue with their kids about sex. Girls are often overlooked in discussions about pornography, yet porn use is increasing among women. The results found in this study are a huge reinforcement and reminder that we can never underestimate the positive impact parental communication has on teens - especially father and daughter discussions, specific to this study.

I find it very interesting that the potential life-paths of potential babies are not even considered in this, and almost all, articles about sexual behaviour. It is like we have some sort of mental bias that blocks the issue from coming up. The 80+ years being put at risk just doesn't seem to resonate with our thoughts.
