Coach Madsen does a great job and has built a nice program. They may be the class of Utah in terms of College Baseball. However, the Great West Conference is horrible. UVU is hitting 401 as a team in this conference and are 24-0. The conference features very poor pitching and defense with most conference opponents making nearly 10% errors. They are 15-11 out of conference and hitting at 305. Remember that non conference games are not a good judge of how good a team is since a team in power conferences will not pitch thier rotation pitchers. If you look at UVU record before conference play began for power conferences, they are 12-11 with 7 of those wins coming agianst SUU. I have watched 4 of their conference opponents play at Brent Brown and none of them would beat American Fork or Bingham High School. The conference is really no test for UVU. Winning 30+ straight games in baseball in very impressive.
Now..if UVU's power could combine with SLCC's speed / outfield play and find two top notch pitchers from Utah or BYU....they would be incredible and compete on a national scale.
