Seems like a waste

Tithing funds are never used for this type of a gift. The Church has a foundation which is funded by business investments, and profits are used to provide support for worthwhile community efforts. I applaud the Church for giving to so many diverse causes. In my experience with Public Affairs, the Church is very generous with a wide range of recipients --mainly those organizations or institutions who provide education or social services to people of many faiths and beliefs. The Church truly tries to be a good neighbor to all who are striving to build our community, including educational institutions.

SoDakota Yote,

I totally trust how tithing money is spent. Education is not a waste.

SouthDakota Yote, please check your facts before making such comments. There is a group called LDS Philanthropies which takes in donations and there are business ventures the Church is involved in, which pay taxes. The Church can use money from either source to donate. Tithing monies would never be used to donate to causes not related to the mission Church.

Mombers who complain about how tithing is spent usually don't know much about what tithing is used for, or they really don't pay tithing.
