@elmerI don't like losses but several of those don't come
anywhere close to "embarrassing".38-28 tp TCU in Dallas? How
is that "embarrassing"? It is no fun to lose but "embarrassing"
is not the way to describe it.The loss to Nevada 27-13. Not
"embarrassing". Nevada had a great team that year and BYU was down. Not
"embarrassing" at all.Did you notice anything almost all of
those teams that BYU lost to have in common? That's right, they are all
quality teams, most of them ranked in the top 25 some in the top 5. Those teams
pounded most of the teams they played those years.Did you notive
another thing all of those teams have in common. None of them had losing
records, none lost 10 games those season, none were bottom feeders, none we
laughable programs. If youwant to see some embarrassing losses to
some bottom feeding programs. some in the midst of 10 loss seasons, just take a
look at utah's record over that time period.LOL!
Wow!! The Deseret publishes an article about BYU and all the Ute trolls come out
of the woodwork to give their so called "expert opinion" as to the
future of BYU. The only opinions I can trust about my beloved Cougars are those
I get from BYU insiders and not those whose only interest is to predict the
demise of BYU.
@ sammygSpeaking of embarrassing losses. BYU has quite the
remarkable streak going for embarrassing losses.2008:7-32 TCU24-48 Utah 2009: 54-28 Florida State

store for the cougies in 2012? Stay tuned! lol
54-10 and the pain is still evident.Love it.
NC-Utes"I like our 'greased' conference schedule much
better than independence. If we can beat the 'Colorados' we have as
good of a chance as anyone to get to the future playoffs."The
limited capacity for thought of the kids on the hill is truly staggering.-USC won't always be ineligible-UCLA, ASU, and Arizona
won't always have losing records-Colorado won't always be a
10-loss team-Utah won't always be able to dodge the best teams in the
PAC 12 NorthSo, if U think that the ONLY thing U have to do to punch
your ticket to the NC playoff is hide from BYU and beat the
'Colorados', you're seriously delusional.Utah is
destined to be a perennial middle of the PAC team, with occassional breakout
years (every couple of decades), mixed with occassional bottom of the PAC
years.Gotta luv those 8th-place finishes in the "conference of
Let's get off of the independence movement and get into the Big 10, 12, or
whatever they are so we can show up the Utes.
TomahawkedYou do realize that BYU has not 'chosen' to play
these November games, they were the options dealt to them these first 2 years in
the decision to go independent. But you knew that.Utes choosing to
play the Big Sky powerhouses show just how scared they really are.It
won't make a difference. Even when the Utes have a 'greased' sled
to a championship they choke.Going for 3 in a row this year for
national TV embarrassing moments?7-47 TCU 20103-28 ND
20103-26 BSU 201017-14 CO 2011? 2012While BYU continues to improve its schedule the Utes will continue their
bottom dweller competition. 4-5 in 2011 with that 17-14 game was proof enough
that the Utes were not ready for prime time. Enjoy being 3rd or 4th in the South
Division... forever.BYU 10-3 against cupcakes and few BCS teams and
ranked nationally Top 25 > 6th, 7th, or 8th Place Pac 10.2
@PAC manI enjoy it when those of the Cougar Nation predict the
demise of the Utes at the hands of PAC 12 bullies. If "little
brother" can't beat "big brother" himself... he looks for a
bully who can.Can Cougar Nation say little brother?Amusing.
RockwellBaltimore, MDthe Utes realized that the only way they
can qualify for a bowl is by filling their non-conference schedule with Big Sky
teams.---------Easily the most hypocritical thing
I've read so far.You do realize that you just outlined the
blueprint BYU has used for the last two seasons?Difference between
BYU and Utah is that Utah schedules 1 cupcake. BYU schedules 7 or 8.What a joke.
Now that AQ may no longer be an issue, I think BYU is working on possibly
joining the new CUSA mega-conference or forming a new conference, but they have
time yet to monitor the situation, with the possible breakups of the WAC, Big
East, or MWC, and unrest in the ACC; not to mention what the Big12 plans to do
to keep up with the SEC.Although they would like to build quality
late-season schedules like Notre Dame, that task appears impossible.
I like our 'greased' conference schedule much better than
independence. If we can beat the 'Colorados' we have as good of a
chance as anyone to get to the future playoffs.Hate to see the
rivalry go but adios Cougars.
After seeing how uncompetitive they were in the PAC, the Utes realized that the
only way they can qualify for a bowl is by filling their non-conference schedule
with Big Sky teams.10 years from now, BYU will still be finishing
regularly in the Top 25 and the Utes will be just another wannabe bottom feeder
in a major conference, like Duke, only without the basketball program.
BYU wouldn't be in a bowl game if they didn't have the lowly WAC teams
to whoop on. We'll se you folks on 9-15-12 for another horrific spanking.
RES should be fun after the 3rd quarter.........when all the BYU fans have made
their exit from the stadium AGAIN.
Jealous Utah-Hawaii AlumLooking forward to you changing your screen
name, AGAIN, after Utah-Hawaii both go down in flames in 2012; you obviously
don't have a clue about BYU's bowl destination for 2012.
BYU is the Liberty U of the west! It is only a matter of time.........ESPN pulls
the plug and BYU football is toast! Enjoy next year's bowl game that will
compete with "Days of our Life" soap opera again for weekday tv ratings.
Utah-Hawaii Alum"Oh my goodness, will the DNews stop this
hypothetical madness."For continuous poster of hypothetical
madness, see mirror. As far as Notre Dame goes, BYU has
beaten Notre Dame in Provo and in South Bend.Remind us again how the
high flying 7-47 Utes fared in their only visit to South Bend...oh,
and call us, if Notre Dame ever agrees to visit Utah.
Yes howie, the Utes are scared to death of BYU. Why else would the
Utes rather play Northern Colorado instead of BYU?Colorado extended
its series with Colorado State to 2020.USC and Stanford will
continue to play Notre Dame every year. But, the Utes now realize
that they aren't competitive in the PAC 12 and that losing conference
records will be the norm from now on, so the only way the Utes have a chance of
being bowl eligible is to pack their non-conference schedule with Northern
Colorados.btw, howie, Bronco is 3-4 versus Kyle, and if not for Anae
sitting on the ball in the last two minutes and playing for the FG instead of
the TD, Bronco would be 4-3 versus Utah.Bottom line:Bronco has FIVE Top 25 Finishes; Kyle only has THREE.
Oh my goodness, will the DNews stop this hypothetical madness. BYU's
football program will be gone in 10 years or sooner. Why not compare BYU to Snow
College or Rick's.........Notre Dame? Are you kidding me?
"...for fear of over-loading its plate with teams that are tough to
beat."Really Greg? Utah is scared to continue to schedule
BYU?Let's consider a few facts: - As voice of the
Cougars, Greg has called 7 BYU losses and 4 BYU victories. For the record
that's 36.4% Cougar winning percentage. - In that span of 11
games Utah has out scored BYU by 313 to 211 points. - The BYU
average margin of victory has been 4 points. - 2 Cougar victories
weren't sealed until the very last play. - BYU's single
most convincing victory was by a margin of 7 points... attributable to righteous
living. - Of Utah's 7 victories, 3 were runaway blowouts. - 1 of Utah's victories was BYU's first scoreless game in
decades. - Utah's average margin of victory has been 17
points. If these facts were reversed in BYU's favor, can anyone
doubt that Greg would be hailing BYU dominance in the rivalry? Yet,
with the same set of facts that he would surely use to claim dominance, Greg
inexplicably concludes that Utah is afraid to schedule BYU and it's 36.4%
winning percentage.... Weird...
Seriously, this is such a hoot to read. I very much enjoy the DNews,
these stories and the very funny comedy troupe called 'the Ute
trolls'.I submit the following after reading the above
comments... The Utes new cheer song... "I am Woman, Hear Me Roar..."(sound effect... Ed McMahon laughing on the Johnny Carson Show!)
All-time NCAA Skiing Champions (1954 to 2012)Denver - 21Colorado - 16 + one sharedUtah - 10 (one solo for the men)Vermont

championship. How hard can it be to win a skiing championship, when
only FOUR D1-A schools compete?
PAC 12 loves UCall us the FIRST time Utah wins a national
championship in ANY big boy sport:football, basketball, baseball,
track and field, volleyball, swimming and diving, golf, cross-country, tennis,
soccer, rugby, wrestling...ANYTHING in which more than a handful of
Division 1 men's teams compete.***crickets***
PAC 10.2 Cellar Dweller"20 national championships"10 in Skiing, in which Utah is a distant third to Denver and Colorado, and
Wyoming, New Mexico, Dartmouth, and Vermont are the only other schools that
compete.10 in Women's Gymnastics, in which Utah hasn't won
a National Championship since 1995.It's laughable that Utah
fans beat their chests about their great football and basketball programs, but
when it comes to national championships, the only championships they have to
beat their chests about are coed and women's sports.A Utah
woMan Am I
See, Papa, and PAC loves you...Here is my issue. You kids
in the Alumni House fail to understand that neither BYU nor Utah carries the
same weight as Notre Dame, or USC, UCLA, or the PAC.BYU has
commonalities with ND, and the Utes have commonalalities that are associated
with the PAC that come from inclusion. While Utah has an interest in
the PAC TV deal, they are not USC or UCLA in football or basketball. BYU is not
ND, but they all have the same issues.Hopefully Utah will someday
get over not being BYU.Yes, they are the "flagship" state
university, which means the first state run university, which means nothing, but
they have yet to reach any of BYU's accomplishments individually, or as a
team. USU has an Outland Trophy. What has Utah done?As soon as you
kids grow up and stop fighting BYU's glass ceiling, maybe someday, you will
be able to realize that being a Ute is something to be proud of, where just
being a "not_BYU" is just weak... (BTW, the PAC does not
love you... like BYU, they tolerate you, which will be short-lived....)
@ PAC 12 loves USandy, Utah===Get serious.Flagship
(meaningless), "major", "tons of", "and the list goes
on"...?20 NC's? So we can see how important those are,
wanna name the sports? Can you?So, can we stop with the BYU does not
compare to ND talk yet?
@ Veritas Aequitas"What's your take on the U and other PAC
teams?"A state flagship university, A major research
institution, a world class medical school, tons of post-graduate programs, Nobel
Peace Prize winners, 20 national championships to contribute to the conference
of champions, and the list goes on.
I LOVE it, Greg! Keep writing! It's like having a trick pet dog. "Watch this! 'BYU and Notre Dame have several things in
common.'""Wow, you're right! They do start
foaming at the mouth. Can they do anything else.""oh, yeah!
Wait till you see what happens when I mention Max Hall, Austin Collie or
Papa Smurf UTE"Notre Dame and BYU are nothing alike. The only things
they do have in common are they are both independent schools, and both religious
schools. That is where the comparisons end."===What's
your take on the U and other PAC teams?
The position of BYU and Notre Dame as independents is similar in name only. ND
as the most storied name in all of college football would only diminish its
status by joining a football conference. BYU the opposite. Wrubell likes the
sound of both schools in the same sentence, but, sorry, their positions are like
night and day.
NO! That is impossible! As I channel my inner Wrubell. Notre Dame and BYU are
nothing alike. The only things they do have in common are they are both
independent schools, and both religious schools. That is where the comparisons
end. When Notre Dame starts to play tough teams, that is where BYU plays the
likes of the WAC and Big Sky. Notre Dame can lose 3 games and still make it to a
BCS game, while the Y has to be undefeated to make a BCS game, and once they
lose a game, they are in the Bell Helicopter Charmin Bowl. While I hope that the
Y can start to get some better games in November, and not have 2 byes, I
don’t see it happening any time soon. They may get 1 good game, and then 3
or 4 terrible games to end the year, which doesn’t bode well for upper
tier bowls, and national recognition. Do Greg, please stop all of these silly
comparisons to one of the best all time college football programs out there. The
Y is not Notre Dame, and never will be Notre Dame, or anything close.
