Of course the US Constitution relegates immigration to the Federal government. The federal Government is supposed to set the immigration policy, and it has... Those who wish to come here must get in line and apply. And they must carry identification with them at all times, to name a few points of existing immigration law.

It only makes sense to have states help with enforcement of Federal immigration laws. States all have cadres of laws enforcement... the feds don't... except for ICE and the FBI. The FBI has its hands full with other issues and ICE could actually be closed down letting states do law enforcement.

Again, immigration policy has already been set and there are federal laws on the books on how to proceed. All that is needed is enforcement... and it's fairly obvious that the current administration does not want enforcement in order to secure the Hispanic vote in the fall.

Nobody is against immgration. This is an argument against ILLEGAL immigration. This is a fight against breaking laws, forging documents, drug pipelines, living off the backs of working Americans, voting without citizenship and honestly it's about the democrats not willing to be honest and fair to ALL americans in the politcal process.

It is misleasding and completely false to say what AZ. is doing is anti-immigration. They are not fighting the legal process already established. They are fighting illegal immigrants who are taking advantage of American generosity.

I hope the Supreme Court does rule in favor of the State of Azand aloud the state to start the process of deporting the illegals back to were they came from to open more jobs to the people of the state. I aslo agree with the comments posting about the president wants the vote of these people to stay in power. I future believe that if you are here illegally you should face the conquest, even if it means your whole family gets deportedor broken up, you knew they were here illegally and you chose to marry them then you need to suffer the conquest of the laws too.

Hopefully NOW the states can start with comprehensive immigration enforcement.

Its long overdue.

ALL are welcome if they do it legally. NO MORE trespassing and stealing services please!

The argument "deport illegals so we can have more jobs" is fundamentally flawed. If somebody came to my house and offered to clean it I would not kick him out so that I could do the cleaning myself. If people want to come to build America we should welcome them. We need better immigration laws that reflect this idea. Currently we have immigration through family ties, random green card drawing, and a long messy process that only big employers can handle to bring skilled workers in. We do not have a legal way for a young man with a dream to participate in the building of America to fulfill his dream unless he happens to marry an American woman. If he is already married to somebody from his country, tough luck. I maintain that the root of our problems, not just immigration, is that we've lost our drive to achieve. As a result, we see people who achieve as competition rather than contribution and do not welcome them.

@Sasha Pachev:

"If somebody came to my house and offered to clean it I would not kick him out so that I could do the cleaning myself."

If that person came to your house to clean and then decided to stay on and move in with you, would your comment be the same?

"If people want to come to build America we should welcome them."

They don't come to build America. They come to suck up government largess... i.e., free education, free healthcare, etc.

"We do not have a legal way for a young man with a dream to participate in the building of America to fulfill his dream..."

His dream should be that of building his own country. If these so-called smart, motivated, and capable immigrants come to America, what of the condition of the country the leave behind?

We believe in being honest in our dealings with the public...if they are here illegally, they are not honest..if they want to be part of the United States of America they can do it legally. The only reason Obama is showing support of the illegals is not because he cares, he only wants those votes and he doesn't care what he has to do to get them. Now I ask you, is that the kind of a President we want to torment our Nation with any longer? I say NO he has no love for our Country or our values..he is an embarrassment to our United States of America and hopefully this sad saga will end in November and a man of integrity, who is a citizen of the United States of America(not a dual citizen which is against the Constitution of the United States of America) will be elected and we will again feel hope in our future and our children and grandchildren's future.
