I don't trust UDOT or Herbert on this one. The whole thing from the under the table payoff to the treatment of Maryann Martindale is very shady. But hey, this is what all you Herbert supporting Delegates just re-elected. Good luck with that choice.

John Njord was out of line on the $13M payout, he was out of line to fire Denice Graham, and he was out of line trying to coerce Graham to keep silent on the matter. I'm sensing a pattern here. Here's betting that Herbert won't take any action other than to state that he was totally clueless about all of it and that it's out of his hands.

Fortunately for Utahns, come November we'll have the chance to elect a real leader: Peter Cooke.

Njord needs to go. And, if Herbert keeps him, Herbert needs to go.

Remember that this is election year. Any inflammatory issues that could become a stepping stone like they, the Democratic Party, used Corroon for last election, can be a good tool for a few votes. Does not matter what the facts are, lets run with the bleeding heart. It gets somewhere faster. Graham needs to put her head down, get back to work and stop being contentious. She got what she wanted, her job. Njord said the check is ready. Go get it and be quiet! The majority of people are tired of hearing about this especially in an election year. Stop already.

She had my support until I read where she went to the Democratic Party with the story. What am I missing here? What does the Democratic Party have to do with it?

I agree with Let's be real..she got here job back, she will get her back pay and fees. I would love to have a job paying 61 thousand at an "entry level position"! There are some folks in this country who would be glad to have a job at all!

Let it go.

Obviously some Democrats have conveniently forgotten the results of the gubernatorial race between Herbert and Corroon. Herbert got 64.2% of the votes and Corroon walked away with 31.8%. To be fair to Mr. Corroon he was forced to carry President Obama's anchor.

UDOT asked her to go to the Democratic party and ask them to stop running ads that suggested UDOT and Herbert are corrupt. This was a compensation check for being wrongfully fired not Hush Money like is usually paid to suppress the truth in Utah, so I can see your confusion.

Lets get real, spoken like a true republican male, dang uppity woman doesn't know her place and should shut up and learn her place or we'll fire you again, and maybe for a reason this time.

The whole thing should be independently investigated, sex, lies, bribes, payoffs, and Utah politicians, if this we're Washington the republicans would be yelling impeachment.

Just to clarify, I'm a conservative leaning independent. I doubt Ms. Martindale would have gone public unless she had no other avenue available to her to collect money that is rightfully hers. Njord, of course, would say the check is ready now that there attempted manipulations of Ms. Martindale are publicly known. It's interesting how easy it was for Herbert, Njord and their cohorts to cut a 13 million dollar check of tax payer dollars to a General Contractor over a threat of a lawsuit.

I apologize, the UDOT employee is Denise Graham.

In any other state, Herbert would be recalled and his UDOT lackey would be behind bars. Big state contractor wins billion-$ bid after giving $87k donation to gov. Losing bidder gets $13 million to keep quiet. Everybody blames poor innocent staffer. Staffer sues, judge says she's right, now they won't give her back pay unless she pledges not to talk? Is this what they call "the best managed state"? More like the most inept, corrupt state gov't in the Union.

No, Utah is only the 6th best managed state. We do have a AAA credit rating and share rank #1 with 10 other states.

When it comes to the "most inept, corrupt state gov't in the Union" the liberal state of California wins the award. They rank 50th in their credit rating, and have a debt in excess of $40 billion that is growing bigger by the second.

The decent citizens of our state take exception to your personal opinion of those running our state. There is a reason why citizens in California are leaving for greener pastures here. No one is suggesting that our leaders are perfect but at least we don't have two former governors in prison at the same time.

When compared with Illinois Utah walks on water.
