Yeah that's crazy having a half day every Friday. I'd easily be able to justify taking the kids out that day for a three day camping trip. Our District has half day preparation days every other Wednesday. That way no one disappears on Fridays. I can imagine the teacher resistance. Constantly changing things definitely does get old. And the Canyons District has a lot still up their sleeves.
The great thing about short Fridays is how little is lost when those days are scheduled school breaks. While I didn't mind the schedule CSD is proposing when I have had it, the idea probably won't make much difference as to when families take days off.
