We are going to the NC this year. We are so deep and focused I've never seen a team so ready before. And our recruiting class best in state. let's do this. NC 2012-2013!

Tysom sounds like the kind of QB that Doman was. It's not the type of QB that McMahon, Wilson or Detmer was but it may be more typical of the type Young, Sarkisian and Doman were. I look forward to watching them all develope over the coming years. This is what I enjoy most about college football. Sometimes a star doesn't pan out and then a Steve Young or a Sarkisian who can lead rather than just play. Riley Nelson can't throw much better than my 14 year old son could but he can win from the front. That passion to win is what we want to see. Detmer had it...he just would not lose when he was on his game.

I have a prediction after byu's practice yesterday:

What will you call 47 guys sitting around a television this December watching a BCS Bowl?

byu's football team.

Three comments, two trolls.

Pathetic.

Predictable.

What do you call any team not given the chance to play for the NC. ALL of college football. NO ONE plays for a national championship because it is awarded not won. Until there is an actual playoff like the NCAA BB...

teams will continue to think that the BCS is more than just another bowl game. It's not, it's just another bowl game. And no one cares about who won the second tier games in any given year except for the team that won it. The rest of the nation could care less.

Quick, tell me who won the second tier (let's say the 3rd highest BCS Bowl) games in 2009?

Can't do it can you without looking it up. No one cares.

So until there is an actual playoff, where a team like Butler can get the finals two years in a row from a non-power conference) don't brag that your bowl games were more than just a bowl game that was supposed to mean something.

It doesn't.

Taysom Hill, fast thinker, fast runner, hard to contain and incredible arm matches Steve Young genes. Welcome aboard Taysom. Go Cougars!

You Trolls, NC implication? Utah went undefeated two times and no NC chance. You think if we gone undefeated this time and play NC? But it would be nice.

Otis, you play for University of Mars? Otis Sistrunk was your granpa?

@ Stuffoo

You have it right. Just like in 1984 when there was NO NATIONAL CHAMPION!!! No playoff no NC. Simple isn't it?

So lets stop hearing it.

Now BCS bowl games and wins that's a totally different story.

The guy goes 2 for 3 for 4 yards and fans are gushing with comparisons to former QB's?? Nelson is a gamer but Y fans better hope he doesn't get injured or the losses will pile up.

More comments from opposing fans than BYU fans...what does that tell you?

Sounds like it was a boring scrimmage. Not sure anyone really learned anything about the team other than the coaches.

The trolls are so predictable; making wild predictions about BYU, while pretending that finishing 8th in the PAC 12 somehow makes Utah relevant.

Here's a clue:

BYU - Top 25 in 2011 (for the 5th time in 6 years)
Utah - unranked in 2011 (as usual, for most of their football history)

I laugh every time the trolls try to claim that BYU didn't win the 1984 National Championship in football, even though ALL FIVE major national organizations declared BYU the 1984 National Champions, yet the same trolls try to argue that Utah won the 1944 National Championship in basketball, when the only national organization of the day, selected Army as the 1944 National Champions.

Oh, you're a funny one, Otis. But, you're correct. Our Cougs won't be playin in a BCS Bowl. Ironic thing is your Uties will be watching the same BCS bowl games. So I guess the joke is actually on you? Where as our Cougs will ultimately be playing a bowl game in beautiful San Diego, could your guys be spending another splendid Christmas in ... El Paso? Feliz Navidad, my friend.

I would be soooo happy if I were a Y fan that you had a top 25 finish by beating the high schools of the west. Play a real schedule and see where you finish up the season.

By the way who highlights your home schedule this year? We have USC coming to the hill.

Glad to be a Ute!

PS I cant wait to see your Top 25 team get manhandled again in Sept at RES
