Why is downtown SLC the only city running buses and Trax for free to anyone who can jump on? Isn't this fraudulent to do and charge the rest of the state in sales taxes plus pay a fare to use the public transportation? The state needs to run some accountability and auditing on this organization and make its serve ice equally available to all cities and service areas, or drop the UTA tax from the sales tax program the rest of the state is paying.
FYI, both Logan and Park City charge no fare for their bus system, which is supported by a local sales tax option similar to the one that UTA uses.
And the whole state is not paying sales tax to run UTA. Only the counties that have UTA service collect the UTA sales tax surcharge.
