Awful is piecemealing out your athletic program to a mid-major conference. And masquerading your football team on ESPN showcasing its WAC scheduling. How are those TV ratings working for ya?

Congrats Cougs on a great season. We overcame a 25 point deficit which put us in the NCAA tournament record books. We played a great Marquette team which could go pretty far in the tournament. I can understand why the Utes like to post on our articles. There team was going nowhere and they needed their basketball fix and they were certain that the small WCC would only get one bid and BYU without Jimmer who almost had a clean sweep of National POY awards would be an NIT team. Well the small gym WCC got 3 bids while the supposed big bad PAC 12 gets 2 and their regular season champ Washington had such a bad resume that they were put in the NIT. Also 6 years in the tournament is a really good accomplishment and puts us in some pretty good company. Compliments to Coach Rose who knows how to recruit and I look forward to next year and with the people coming back the future is very bright in Provo.

It was a memorable season--I enjoyed watching all the Cougs' games on TV, and it was fun watching them play against different conference opponents, even in their crackerbox gyms. I agree about the need for guards who can shoot--we'll see next year.

The game with Iona took a lot out of them.

National TV is an old and tired happy term used by BYU fans.
    Its meaningless if nobody watches.

Nice job Cougs! We're proud of your run this year. It was a tough year and you showed a lot of grit. Don't pay attention to ute fans and their jealous comments. There season was over in October.

We didn't have the horses this year. It especially difficult with freshman guards unless they are one and done types. but Rose did a terrific job and tho we will miss Hartsock next year, I believe we will be much better. Congrats to the Cougs this year.

The way I saw it, BYU took themselves out of the game. Too many missed shots, including too many missed free throws and turnovers. You can't do that against a team like Marquette. The outcome could've been much closer, maybe even pulled an upset. Carlino was again trying to do too much which resulted in too many turnovers and missed opportunities.

@ EF, Ares, BSR...Life must be pretty boring if the only pleasure you get is from seeing BYU loose. Why so much hate? Couldn't you just be glad your team has left BYU behind for the mighty Conference of Champions? Why can't you just let us enjoy our independence and focus instead on avoiding being a sad joke in your new conference? I'm a cougar fan but I root for you guys too to do well in your new conference. That would reflect well on the kind of competition BYU had in the state of Utah.

Congrats, Cougs, for a good run in the NCAA tournament. Now Lady Cougs, let's have a better showing and go further than the boys did. Go Cougs!!!

Saw that the Cougars were down 15 at the half and thought, "We've got them right where we want them!"

In all seriousness, I knew, as many of the rest of you did, that the Cougars couldn't afford to fall behind early and hope to make a come back on this Marquette team. Unfortunately, that's exactly what they did. I hope by next season Coach Rose can find a way to light a fire under these guys and eliminate the sluggish starts.

Good season. Much better than we could have hoped for after losing arguably the best offensive and defensive players in BYU history.

    To my fellow Utah fans:

Get over your jealousy; it's embarrassing for fans of a once great program to be trying to tear down the accomplishments of their rival just to make themselves feel better about the sorry state of their own program.

Lift more weights get some muscle around those bones. The other team looked bigger and stronger but not faster. Did great for a young team!

Congratulations Cougars on another 25+ win, NCAA tournament game winning season. Quite an accomplishment for a rebuilding, injury plagued team. It'll be fun to see how well Carlino, Winder, Austin, Haws, and Davies do next year.

any chance we can get some guards in next year who can actually shoot?

Marquette is a very good team! Not a bad effort, that's life as a lower seed. It takes a special team to overcome a match up like that (i.e. Weber State vs. Michigan State and a close upset in round two against Georgetown and Weber State vs. North Carolina and an OT loss against Florida). It's a much tougher path to a sweet sixteen than a Wofford and Gonzaga paring. Not bad, a very nice season! Will be that much better next year with the experience.

As for the first four commenters here, is that all you've got? How does it feel to be totally irrelevant?

Glad we could get a couple of ute fans on here first. So sad that all they have to live for right now is posting about BYU games.

It was a better year than I expected. This was definitely a rebuilding year for the Cougars. We played so many freshman this year and we have some great kids lined up to come into the program. Coach Rose is doing such a great job. It is great to have a future to look forward to.

I'll miss Hartsock and only hope his brother that just signed will live up to the name. Another Haws, another Emery on the way as well.

Rose knows how to build a PROGRAM.

Thanks to the team for making it a fun run. The comeback against Iona will go down as a classic. Great memories for so many fans.

    Go Cougars!

@ Elmer Fudd, Acres & Brave Sir Robin--

From this Cougs fan, no excuses. Marquette, pure and simply, shot the ball and made their shots better than we did: 45% vs. 37%.

Mr. Fudd & Acres, what excuses do you have for your team(s) not making the tourney? Sir Robin, if you're an Aztecs fan, have fun with North Carolina State!

Also, can't wait to communicate with you next season. Go, Cougs!

Congrats to the Cougs for getting as far as they did with such a very young, inexperienced team. That youth and lack of experience restulted in inconsistent play throughout the season, particularly during the last few regular season games & into the WCC Tournament. With that being said, I can't wait for next season!! With 1 year of experience, including critical tournament experience, they will be a force in the WCC next season and reach the Tourney ... again. Any other college from mid-major conferences (including the Pac 12 this year, my brethren up north) would trade places w/ the Cougs any day.

As a senior, the team needed much more leadership and contribution from Abouo. The dude was MIA over the past 6-7 games. Hows this for a line: 18 minutes, 3 points & 2 assists. I'm not a Carlino fan at all, but I've gotta hold out hope he will only mature and get better over the next 3 years.

    The cupboard is full!!

Wow! Wrong backcourt. Winder and Harrison should be in there to make it a game. Carlino and Cusick would be great in NIT tournament.

What does Rose have against Harrision?

Yeah. They weren't going to beat Marquette. If they played them 10 times, the result would be the same.
Just a good, but not great team, and great is what it takes when playing with the big schools.

Which excuse will we hear today?

    1. It was the refs' fault/the refs don't like BYU.
    2. Others teams really "get up" when they play BYU.
    3. We didn't want to win anyway.

    I'm betting on #1.
