I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to serve my two years in the Land of the Long White Cloud and also grateful for those who paved the the way and served and sacrificed before me...
Wow! Sounds like they really needed a Liahona. They missed Hawaii by over 4,300 miles! How did they bring enough food for a journey nearly two times further than they intended? Hawaii is only 2,400 from the California coast. They were lucky to hit land at all. Now, that's the story I want to hear.
@Firefly123 at the time the only ships going between these islands were whalers. They rode along whalers in hopes they will catch other ships going to Hawaii. One of the missionaries called was a whaler, and that's how brother Joseph heard of the "Sandwich Island" Hawaii
