"There's power in unity," Romney said. "We came together as a group of people not caring about who got credit....' - article

I, would disagree.

** Romney led Olympics to success - with some help - By Kasie Hunt - AP - Published by the DSNews - 02/18/12

Saving the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics:
'In the end, the Olympics were a huge success and the games actually turned a $100 million profit. Mitt Romney indeed saved the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.'

- Why Romney website.

This website identifies itself in part:

This site is intended to free Romney from being tied down into playing "wac-a-mole" with smears and instead focus on the important issues. - Website

We have been hearing for years that 'Romney saved the Olympics.'

And this not political?

Now, that people bring that that not ONLY Romney helped the olympics ($1.3 billion of your tax dollars went into that olympics) ...

Romney changes his stance, yet again, and is just simply 'Relishing the Olympics.'

If this was the case, entire websites dedicated to the Romney political campaign would not make the claim that:

Mitt Romney indeed saved the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.'

Governor Romney was our LEADER. He never said he was our savior. Yes it was the people of Utah who saved the games and he was our leader to do it. Of all the candidates Gov Romney is the only one who seems to have the knowledge and certainly the experience to tackle multi-billion dollar budgets. He is the only one who shows any hope of solving a near impossible multi-trillion dollar federal deficit and debt. We can choose the same as we presently have and we will get what we have had the past 3 years OR we can choose someone like Mr. Santorum who may be somewhat fiscally conservative but again like the president has no experience with extremely large budgets like a governor has, or some one who lead successful Olympics or knows who to make successful companies or scrap those that are economically unfeasible.

If the economy has any importance to you, Romney is the person to lead us all out of the mess this country is in.

Part of the economic genius of Mitt Romney is his ability to pull together teams of persons with expertise to tackle the impossible. He would be the first to say the team did it. I would expect the same thing of him as president - he would bring in experts - not just politicians and they would surgically operate on the economy

They used the simple, very sound principles of:

WEIGH EXPENDATURES, Separate them into two categories.
1. What is necessary?
2. What is nice to have?

DONâT SPEND MONEY YOU DONâT HAVE!

Save money for a rainy day.

The same needs to happen in our country or we will go bankrupt! Mr. Romney has proven leadership on a smaller scale but nonetheless he does have leadership and experience to do it if it can be done at all.

'I would expect the same thing of him as president - he would bring in experts - not just politicians and they would surgically operate on the economy...' - Rocket Science 11:36 p.m. Feb. 18, 2012

Oh, I expect nothing less.

The issue becomes...

** 'GOP rivals turn Romneyâs jobs record against him' - By Kasie Hunt - AP - Published by DSnews - 01/09/2012

'A separate AP analysis found that at least 4,000 workers lost their jobs at 45 companies bought by Bain...' â article

**'Mitt Romney as job creator clashes with Bain record of job cuts' - By Lisa Lerer, Bloomberg News - Published by DSNews - 07/20/11

"Employees who lost jobs at Bain-controlled companies more than a decade ago say they still hold Romney responsible.
"I would not vote for him for anything," said Phyllis Detro, 68, who lost her job..." - article

The patient has to SURVIVE the cure! :)

Surgical comparisons are nice, but let's use another comparison:

Romney will fire you, if he is elected President.

Imagine if someone like Barack Obama had run the Salt Lake 2002 Olympics. There would never have been any Olympics because he would have been too busy suing people and trying to place blame on people for the scandal. I don't say that facetiously. I'm serious. Obama doesn't know how to lead, he only knows how to agitate and cause turmoil. He could never have done what Romney was able to do simply because his personal philosophy would not allow it.

It is sad that some people politicize what Mitt did in 2002. Shame on them! I was keenly involved in the Games for the Finnish National Olympic Committee as their representative in Utah. We actually lived there for 6 years. In 1998 I was worried!!! But when Romney arrived... Well, the rest is history. He managed the greatest Games ever. Mitt has all the right to be proud of what he AND Frazier and the tens of thousands did.
All 2002 volunteers and staff should make sure that the legacy of 2002 is carried forward with even greater enthusiasm.
On his third day to the Games a cabinet minister from Finland and member of the FNOC commented to me:" Isn't if awfull that I have lived in a fallacy all my life, and not known the truth about you people!" (yes, non LDS and LDS alike were "Utah Mormons")
Thank You Utah!
Thank You, Mitt!
As a foreigner I cannot vote, but be assured I know who I would vote, if I could.

Not political? The Olympics and all it represent is political and controversial and wasted money.

We made $100 million only means that the 2002 olympics recovered some money from it $1.3 billion dollar cost. We are still waiting to recover the other $1 billion dollars it cost Utah taxpayers. However in Utah, taxpayers paying for anything is irrelevant, its money taxpayers are expected to fork over for these whims of folly the state has.

The only thing Romney did for Utah and the Olympics is follow the plans already laid out for him, none of it was his brain child or creation, and reduce the fraud the olympics committee was shairng with local friends of government. He is head honcho of priority poverty and socialism.

Some still think Romney will abolish the Obama care plans, but ha ha again, he intends to keep obama-care and socialized government controlled health care according to his and the Republican party quotes. Romney will be nothing more than an oversight president leading us to destruction. He has no imagination or ability to plan, organize, or implement any kind of recovery or economic growth.

Save America? Vote Ron Paul.

The Olympics anniversary was politicized?

Well, of course it was. By Romney himself!

He made the Olympics into his top credential in his campaign for "turning around" the country. Such inflated and distorted claims are begging for a political response, and that is what Romney got.

Then he whines about it?

It's sad that the 3 former dems who still want notoriety come out and diss Romney. Thank you Jim Dubakas (sp?) for saying the truth. We need more of that. As a volunteer for the Olympics I was delighted that he took over. Knowing a little of the inner parts before, I know that he did save it. We needed an unusual amount of security because of 9/11 and the feds helped, as they should. Can anyone criticize the amount spent when you look at the way the president is throwing money around to green companies, even when it was known they were going bankrupt. My gosh, a drop in the bucket when you stack it up against the billions wasted. Give me a bread.

Like it or not, you cannot have the participation of one of the leading candidates for the nomination of his party for President and not expect politics to come into it. Get real.

I have been critical of Mitt and I am not sure he is capable to be the president. That said it sure is nice to see him relax and be himself more these past 2 days. His speaking isn't so studdery, stiff and orchestrated. He seems more relaxed, normal, and gracious instead of being defensive and abusive. Please relax for the next month or two Mitt and be more open, forthright, and like you are here when talking about the success of the olympics please and leave the mud throwing and persdonal vendetta's of others for other people the argue over!

What the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics needed was a LEADER, and they certainly got that in Mitt Romney! Congratulations to Democrat's chair, Jim Dabakis, for stating that Mitt did a "commendable job" and calling upon other Democrats to say anything but the truth. Yet at the county building the following found fault: Fonnesbeck, Milner, and Milner. The DNC sent out a video saying that Romney took federal money, yet the money from the feds was for security. Those of us who were here remember this event was just five months after 9/11, and there were a great deat of precautions taken to insure everyone's safety. That was the role of the federal government.

Many thousands of Utahns volunteered with no pay to help in any way possible to make this event successful. Romney himself was a volunteer receiving no money; he was a much needed LEADER. And, he restored confidence, organization skills, and rallied a scandal-ridden Olympic team here in SLC. Yes, we remember, and we thank you, Mitt Romney, for your important role in helping to make these games very, very successful. We need the same leadership from Mitt Romney as President of the United States as this country is now struggling in many ways. He is a proven leader.

I can sum up the "attitude problem" of Sydney Fonnesbeck, Joanne Milner, and Joe Hatch with two words: Sour Grapes! They didn't like it because they were probably on an ego trip and were not in the limelight.

Democratic Party Chairman Jim Dabakis needs to be commended for standing up to these naysayers and giving credit where credit is due to Mitt's efforts towards making the 2002 Games a success.

Fonnesbeck, other democrats, AmPatriot, et all. Yes, Romney wasn't the "savior" of the games, but he did save them. You just can't handle the fact that he came in, kicked figurative tushy, streamlined operations, took no salary or expenses, cut costs, scaled back many grandious plans, brought many Utahns in as partners and volunteers, and many other things. Just a lot of sour grapes from all of you. By the way, if the games made a $100 million dollar profit after costing 1.3 billion, that means the games were paid for. A lot of Olympic games do not generate a profit. What do you think pays for the operation of the Speed Skating Oval in Kearns? The trust fund set up pays for most of it. If the United States kicked in money to help out, then great. It paid for the security of the games (less than a year after 9/11). There was a lot of security and everything went off without a hitch. Mitt did a great job. Don't denigrate him for that. He will make an even better President.

You republicans started off this long dragged out(2yrs) with 7 of the most unqualified candidates there has ever been. Now your down to 4 and still have nothing. Your party does have qualified people for the office, why are they not on the ticket? This group is ridiculous at best. It would be laughable if it wasn't for the mess your last party in control left, now we need some serious decision making by your house and senate members and all the country gets is no and get rid of Obama. Do you Repubs really think the citizens of this great country want another helping of top republican control after the fiasco of Bush & Cheney? What some dreamers! Keep listening to the tea party and you will lose the controls you have in congress real soon also!

"Romney will fire you, if he is elected President."

Yes, we need somebody who will fire federal employees who don't pull their weight and are just there for the ride. Obviously Obama isn't up to the task.

I seem to remember Hatch, Fonnesbeck, and Milner front and center during the Olympics. I don't recall any criticism from them then. They were enjoying their time in the spotlight. Remarkably, Rocky is staying silent. But then again, he's running for President.
