The "stupid laws" are not laws you vote for, they are the laws guaranteed under the US Constitution. Move to Soviet Russia or present-day Syria, Iran, China etc. if you don't like your rights to due process, presumption of innocence, freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, and a raft of others. They protect you from the every-growing federal government.

I'm shocked by how willingly some surrender to an oppressive government. JUST CRAZY.

I disagree. People don't willingly surrender their freedoms to an oppressive government, they want to give away others' rights. They still want "their" rights -- and their access to the public trough.

National media is reporting that police in Washington recovered a "testament" from Josh Powell at the recycling center, but nobody is saying what "testament" means. There's nary a mention of this in the Deseret News, which is supposed to be at the center of the story. Instead you're getting scooped by CNN and MSNBC. Come on, Deseret News staff, do your jobs!

I cannot believe anyone would purposefully do that to his landlord. Did he just figure, oh they have insurance. That was so nervy. Just blow up someone elses house and walk away.

Why would a person who is going to burn his house down take maps and books to the landfill? Why not let the fire destroy them? But then we are talking about Josh Powell, a very senseless guy.

It wasn't WVPD's fault ironmania, they're bound by the stupid laws that we (through State Legislature's and Congress) vote for.

This one hangs over us all.

There are times where we should shoot down the noble law and just let common sense prevail. It woulda saved two young lives in this case.

The guy should have been behind bars long ago, in my opinion. There is no excuse for West Valley Police giving him free reign to kill his sons.

I would have to say for the local media here in SL... What do we have to do please stop showing his picture, someone like that does not belong to have it's picture shown over and over.
