looks like an interesting season
WAC-ish.
@naval vet
If you dislike BYU so badly:
Why do you care?
Move on and watch a team you like and stop complaining about one you dont.
Yes! Finally, national championship caliber schedule! We're going all the way! Yay!
BYU's November schedule...........ROFL!!!!
Counter Intelligence:
That question has already been asked and answered.
And, FWIW: You don't like my comments, yet you can't seem to get past them. I just don't understand it. Why do you care what I have to say? Move on and read a comment from the frantic and emotional coug fans you like and stop complaining about the logical Ute fans you don't.
@squid
Which last year was better than pac-ish!
ThomasJefferson:
It's the frantic and emotional comments like yours that excuse -- even laud -- your WACey scheduling that enables Holmoe and Mendenhall to ensure those weak-SOS opponents will continue to dominate your schedules. I love it!
The schedule isn't too bad really. For those of you saying it's still WAC ish: Since when was Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Utah, Boise State, Washington State, and Oregon State WAC ish? Throw in Hawaii which is now in the MWC and the only other teams that would be from WAC-ish would be Utah State, Weber State, Idaho, San Jose State, and New Mexico State. It's not that much different from the big boys to schedule cup cakes during their season and filling the rest of their schedule from the lower teams in their conference. For the big dogs in each conference, you could almost consider their schedules WAC-ish by your standards.
U fans are already showing your jealousy and obsession with BYU's national schedule. But if it makes you feel better, I'll concede that BYU's 3 games in November are weaker than Utah's November schedule. But you must admit BYU's first 9 games are pretty sweet.
And really, are New Mexico State and San Jose State really that much worse than Colorado and Arizona State? Let's face it, all four teams are pretty poor and both BYU and Utah should easily beat teams like this. Oops, I almost forgot, U didn't beat the lowly Buffs last year. Sorry.
What a great year this is going to be. I can only imagine how many games will be televised on ESPN and NBC. How about U?
I wonder what line U will come up with in 2013 when the WAC connection is gone?
I'd still prefer the Big12, but Independence is proving to be a better option than the MWC or Big East.
BYU/Jazz fan:
Since when is a schedule bearing Utah State, New Mexico State, San Jose State, and Idaho not WAC-ish? And name ONE "big boy" school that schedules 4 WAC-lite opponents, then feels justified by adding an FCS team like Weber State to ensure their schedule isn't too difficult? And do you think that Hawai'i was put on the your schedule to put your SOS in the Top-50? The cougars claim to have a lot of "scheduling flexibility" and a "brand" that other AQ schools are dying to put on their schedules, but I see fewer AQ schools on your 2011 and 2012 seasons COMBINED than Utah played last season alone.
You keep pretending your schedules aren't WAC-ish, and keep enabling Holmoe and Mendenhall to ensure your SOS won't crack the Top-80, so that we Ute fans can keep bird-dogging your annual WACey matchups.
My "Big Dog Team.....Bama" played the following top opponents last year. Penn State - Arkansas - Florida - Tennesee - LSU - Mississippi State - Auburn - Georgia - LSU. This year the schedule includes Michigan - Arkansas - Missouri - Tennessee - Mississippi State - LSU - Texas A&M - Auburn.
Do you really think that Notre Dame - Georgia Tech - Utah - Boise State - Washington State - Oregon State even come close to the level of competition the real big dogs play. Realy?
CougFaninTX:
"And really, are New Mexico State and San Jose State really that much worse than Colorado and Arizona State?"
ABSOLUTELY!
Unequivocably!
Definitely!
Yes!
The REAL question in there was...Were you serious when you asked that?
"stop complaining about the logical Ute fans'
How logical is it for Ute fans to be on a story about a team they do not care about, then complain they are a victim when they are called on it?
"That question has already been asked and answered" Yes, you have previously admitted you dislike BYU because you dislike Mormons. I am not LDS and I am not impressed and I find it pathetic. Why dont you take your own advice and "move on" instead of spewing venom and than acting put-upon when people reject it for what it is. Speaking out aganst intolerance is a good thing (even passive/aggressive intolerance wrapped in sports jargon)
Let's see, find one team that schedules 4 WAC like teams. That would be Utah and their pathetic pac-ish schedule with a few Division 2 teams thrown in for good measure. i quess you finally admit, the Utes do not polay with the "big boys." Siemper Fi!
Naval Vet
If Colorado is ABSOLUTELY! Unequivocably! Definitely! better than San Jose State; perhaps U can explain why San Jose State beat Hawaii last year and Colorado was stomped by Hawaii.
Cougfanintx
National schedule? lol More like a schedule made out of necessity in a moments notice. It does look better than last year even though the best games once again are not at LES. Sorry, but you know it's true.
The big boy schedule will come when you get into a big boy conference. You all better hurry too.
Counter Intelligence:
"Yes, you have previously admitted you dislike BYU because you dislike Mormons."
I have said no such thing. I AM a Mormon! You obviously have no idea what you're talking about, and have resorted to making up disingenous tales. And since you're the type that would do that, you're likely the type that would also be LDS, and then deny it in order to make the Y appear more to be mainstream and appealing to a larger demographic. That's always been the cougar fantasy, even during my Freshman year when I attended there.
Also typical of cougar fans is the illogical inability to separate Church from Sport. If one hates the Y, then one must also hate Mormons. You even have that martyr complex. Talk about "pathetic". How embarrassing for you.
ThomasJefferson:
"Let's see, find one team that schedules 4 WAC like teams. That would be Utah and their pathetic pac-ish schedule with a few Division 2 teams thrown in for good measure."
So, in other words, what you're saying is, you COULDN'T find a single other team. I thought not. Now you know why I said "WAC-ish". Case closed.
CougFaninTX:
Classic poor reasoning ability of the typical Y fan. That would be like you trying to explain why Colorado was able to upset the Utes, who CURB-STOMPED your cougs by 44-pts. The truth is, you're just being obstinate. You know darn well that CU > SJSU, because they recruit and sign better athletes.
FYI - Perhaps CU losing to Hawai'i had something to do with a 1st-yr Head Coach coaching in his 1st game, and hadn't adequately prepared his team for the distance and time difference between the CST and Hawai'i's time zone. I don't know...but they seem to have lost to Ohio St. and USC by close to the same margins as they did Hawai'i, and I doubt Hawai'i is up to the same level as the Buckeyes and Trojans.
