Why was P.G given the "edge against Jordan? Are they really that good this year? I mean, P.G has beaten a down Alta team, and they won last week out of state but should the game really be that close? 42-21 Jordan

Jfan,

You have 2 things going on here. Noland Parry (with whom I am in no way associated) has a computer program that rates each team in the state. The 1st column lists the team that his system gives the higher score, hence the "Favorite". The 2nd column gives their rating for that week. The 3rd column lists the difference between the 2 teams that are playing and is the point difference he favors the "favorite" by (in the Jordan-PG game, Mr. Parry picks the Beetdiggers by 13.5 points). The 4th column gives the computer rating for the "underdog" and the 5th column lists the "underdog". Those 5 columns are used to show Mr. Parry's prediction as determined by his computer program.

The 6th column is titled "Edward's Edge" and is simply who the prep sports editor, James Edwards, predicts will win each game. I assume he uses his knowledge of Utah high school football and hunches to make these predictions. PG wasn't "given the edge", Mr. Edwards just thinks PG will win.

While I think Jordan will win, I think it will be closer than either you or Mr. Parry predict.

It should be a great one. I think PG has a better overall team but that Kafentzis kid will be the difference as Jordan wins 31-28.
