worf Mcallen, TXWho is paying the fuel, and maintenance
of Obama's jet?Pathetic! According to the Obamanite
cronies, your question is out of line and irrelevant for he is the president of
the United States of America.I agreed with you though 100%, pretty
@ Riverton CougarThank you for your sincere answer. I still put the
teaching of Christ above what the apsotles may say, therefore I see it from a
different point of view. But I appreciate and respect our differences.@Lost in DCThis may come as a shocker to you, but I don't
agree with everything President Obama says or do. Like I don't disagree
with everything the Republican Party claims as their Political ideology. Can you honestly say that the GOP have tried to work with President
Obama? e.g. At this moment our country faces the unique situation of having a
flood of children from Central America crossing our borders illegaly. Instead of
looking for a solution and work with the White House Mr. Boehner points his
finger to the President and accuses him of this crisis. No historical
perspective, no geo-political analysis, just pander to the populace who hear the
claim and run with it. Propagating misinformation and inaction. Are
you part of the populace?
GaryO,Why doesn't BarryO fund raise for the illegal immigrant
GaryOYou are TOO funny! Why would a dem leader cooperate with
the GOP?Why don’t you ask BO? HE was the one calling for
cooperation. But in case YOU did not know, the GOP leaders in the
house and GOP members in the house and senate were ELECTED by their
constituents, who BO has also sworn to serve when he took his oath of office.
Of course, we know that means nothing to him.Baccus0902Once
again you are expressing your total distaste for those with who do not worships
BO. Nothing wrong with that! However, IMHO what is wrong is the total
bias and blindness to any sense of objectivity on your part and your ilk.The GOP members of the house and senate were elected and re-elected
because of deep opposition to BO’s disastrous Obamacare and other
short-sighted, horrific policies. BO’s TOTAL and COMPLETE disregard for
the 60% of the nation that disagrees with him is disgusting, as is blind worship
of the man.Affordable health care? Whoever believes that lacks
objectivity and is totally biasedEnd the wars? Iraq and Afghanistan
are peaceful? Whoever believes that lacks objectivity and is totally biased
"I cannot deny my dissapointment and lack of comprehension to how a Church
that claims to follow Christ can have so many conservative members. It baffles
me that followers of the Lord Jesus Christ can advocate for philosophies that
promote individualism and selfishness inestead of compassion and
community."That it because the picture that liberals paint of
conservatives is far different from what conservatives really are. Don't
buy into the lie that conservatives are rich, greedy people who thrive on other
peoples' misfortune. I bet you are disappointed when people say liberals
are just lazy bums who prefer to live off of welfare rather than get a job. Some
conservatives are greedy and some liberals are lazy, but to generalize an entire
party like that is ignorant. There is a reason why most American
Mormons are conservative, most likely including most of the apostles, I am sure.
When the Church speaks out on political issues, it is almost always, if not
always, on the conservative side of the issues (ERA, SSM, abortion, etc.). I
know Mormon liberals who have left the church because it conflicted with their
political ideology (something the apostles warned of).
@GaryO,Why do you support leaders who are well known for not being
truthful?Answer without a history lesson on past leaders.
Let's deal with today.
@ boneheaded, but not a smidgenYou wrote:" i love the fact
that barry's sophisticated groupies feel the need to post on a western
newspaper that is only read by us uneducated hicks"I read the
Deseret News because of its connection to the LDS Church. It has nothing to do
with geographic location.I must admit that some of the comments in
the DN are somewhat different to what we may have in the Northern Virginia or
some other Urban area. However, I would never equate difference with
awkwardness. "Uneducated hicks" is demeaning and completely erroneous to
what I think of Utahns. I have found most of the comments here well written,
deep in context and interesting. I cannot deny my dissapointment and lack of
comprehension to how a Church that claims to follow Christ can have so many
conservative members. It baffles me that followers of the Lord Jesus Christ can
advocate for philosophies that promote individualism and selfishness inestead of
compassion and community.I enjoy the DN and you so much that I have
taken the time to answer to your post.
The Affordable Care Act is a mess, Iraq is now a disaster where Christians are
no longer wanted,, the economy is in shambles and the employment rate is
horrible since only part time jobs are available. What we do have is a man
elected to be President that is incapable of running anything. He was to be the
most transparent President but that didn't happen.
Why doesn't Obama fund raise for the children, unemployed, and the sick?
i love the fact that barry's sophisticated groupies feel the need to post
on a western newspaper that is only read by us uneducated hicks. having lived in
much bigger states than virginia i find it interesting that yomama fans
don't have newspapers of their own liking.
Hey Boneheaded -"notice barry';s biggest groupies come from
virginia. must be federal "workers"."I can only speak
for myself, but I am not a federal worker. And I can tell that the Virginians
posting here are not boneheaded.Virginia, btw is the land of
Presidents.Lessee now . . . Washington, Jefferson, Madison,
Monroe etc. etc.How many Presidents came from Utah?
@ boneheaded, but not a smidgenWrong at least on one of us. I
don't have the pleasure of knowing GaryO so I cannot speak for him.Interesting that you mentioned Virginia, obviously the implications is
that we are close to the Federal Government. Well, you are right. What you may have not perhaps intended is to imply also that the Washington
Metropolitan area is a region imbued in politic. More than any other place in
the country we know closer than most the actors and the ideologies on both sides
of the aisle. Because of that, we steadily tend to be more open minded,
analytical, studious, in other words liberals. We know that politics
is not good or bad in itself, but politicians make it one or the other. We also know that when a leader advocates for the best interest of the people.
Those who control the status quo will try to discredit him/her in an effort to
protect their selfish interest.
Obama claims he is not very partisan? Debatable. However, without a doubt the
MOST partisan person in Congress happens to be one Harry Reid. As the article
mentions, the House has passed much legislation. It is in the Senate where Reid
has the power to not allow a bill passed in the House to even be brought to the
floor for an up or down vote. Obama tries to create the impression in his
speeches that it is the T-Party Republicans in the House that won't pass
anything, but the truth just doesn't support that claim. He is protected
by Harry Reid, because if much of what the House did pass ever got through the
Senate to the White House, Obama would either have to sign legislation with a
lot of Republican fingerprints on it, or veto it. He'd probably veto a lot
of it, but Mr. Reid saves Obama from having to do that. However, should the
Senate go Republican in November, Obama will likely become the veto President
for his last two years. Kind of like the first Bush was in his only term.
notice barry';s biggest groupies come from virginia. must be federal
Who is paying the fuel, and maintenance of Obama's jet?Pathetic!
To Lost in DCOnce again you are expressing your total distate for
the President of the United States. Nothing wrong with that! However,
IMHO what is wrong is the total bias and blindness to any sense of objectivity
on your part and your ilk.President Obama was elected and re-elected
to carry out a program of change that included among other things, Affordable
Medical Care, end the war of Iraq, lift the economy and reduce the unemployment
rate.President Obama has delivered on all fronts. You may dislike
his actions. However, for us who voted for him he is doing what we sent him to
do.On the other hand, Boehner and his accomplices in Congress have
used absolutely any obstructionist tactic they have been able to think of to
derail the progress of the country.I find interesting that now Utah
is trying to expand medicaid while before opposed it.Gov. Herbert
criticizes President Obama's handling the immigrant children crisis. Even
though Pres. Obama is following the law of the land since President Bush.I like to think that we as citizens of this country are first Americans
and only then followers of a political party.
Hey lost in DC -"it IS disingenuous of BO to request cooperation
from the GOP when he and harry refuse to cooperate?!" But a
major goal of our anti-government, Tea-Party-infested Congress is to obstruct
all progress. . . and thereby lend legitimacy to the premise that got that them
elected: that Government is no good. Why why would any sensible
Democrat cooperate with Republican leaders in a twisted and perverse quest to
impede good governance?
I love it. Obama demands cooperation. Last I checked cooperation was not
something you can demand. Demanding cooperation is called COMPULSION, and this
nation should not operation on forcing lawmakers to do what you want them to
do.What this really shows is that Obama is a terrible communicator
and can't explain what he is doing and where he sees the nation going in a
way that makes the GOP want to help. Reagan was good at explaining himself to
Democrats and getting their help. Even Clinton could effectively communicate
with the GOP.
BO demands cooperation, says he wants a congress that can get the job done?
– why doesn’t he demand that of harry reid, the biggest
obstructionist in DC?BO says he’s not overly partisan? The
man has NO concept of the truthGaryO, “President Barack
Obama is calling on Republican lawmakers to cooperate”Whether
calling on them is “demanding” is a matter of debate, but it IS
disingenuous of BO to request cooperation from the GOP when he and harry refuse
Well, we continue to hear the comments but no action as both sides continue to
exchange sharp words of complaint. While I am not given to complaints about the
President, this one is a no brainer. With more than enough issues of both
National and International consequences, what in the world is President Obama
doing out on the fund-raising trail. This is not my idea of a commander and
chief. You have far too many pressing issues to our country than to be out
dialing-for-dollars. If you cannot focus on the issues at hand, move out and
let's get someone in there that can. We don't need a fundraiser, we
need a commander.
‘Obama fundraises for Dems; demands GOP cooperation’Isn't that kind of disingenuous?I never saw any hint in the
article that Obama "Demands GOP cooperation."He did point
out, quite fittingly, how worthless Republican Politicos have become though. As the article so well illustrates, all Republicans seem to be able to
do is complain. So Boehner, McConnel and others are whining again? Nothing new
there.Republicans in high office offer only problems and absolutely
NO solutions. Why would anyone ever vote Republican?
