Wow. We are going to shoot down a passenger plane?

Nice job!

Not the first time this has happened. July 3, 1988 a US Navy warship shot down a civilian Iranian Airbus, killing all 290 aboard.

It is very frightening. It could happen here in the USA. "Blue Bolshevik" the Iranian airliner was heading directly towards one of our ships and it had been warned in time to change course.

Has everyone forgotten Korean Airlines 007, shot down by the Soviets off Kamchatka?

Korean Air 007 was shot down 1 week before my Army Reserve unit heading to Korea for 2 weeks of training. We were booked on the same flight one week later.

As the United States of America weakens, so does the freedoms of the world.

No amount of fund raising will fix the borders or America.

Putin had a great point - if war wasn't going on, this wouldn't have happened.

Ukraine had an elected govt who didn't want to join the European Union and were disposed by a group supported by George Soros and his minions, including one Barack Obama. Though provoked, Putin stands up to them. Crimea has always been Russian property, despite being part of the Ukraine, but the Soros backed leaders wanted it back. Criameans voted over 90% in favor of staying with Russia and war avoided - much to Soros' dismay. So 'conflicts' break out between radicals of both sides and a passenger plane gets shot down.

Who's to blame? Soros and his buddies, by Putin's logic (which is probably correct).

This could be a false flag incident, designed to bring pressure on Putin to stay out of it. Or it could have been an untrained soldier playing with his new missile launcher not really sure how to tell a passenger plane from a military one. We may never know the truth.

Incredible. I guess the temptation is just too great. Something awful happens half way around the world and of course it's Obama's fault.

Lazy, lazy thinking.

TRUTH:

Please don't defend or excuse the US shooting down the Iranian airbus. The US even paid the Iranian government tens of millions of daughters and basically admitted the USS Vicennes leadership made a tragic mistake. What is historically ironic is that it came during a time of tension between Iraq and Iran. We had thrown our support behind Iraq and Saddam Hussein. But we misidentified the plane as a possible F-14, yes a US made airplane that we had given to Iran during the days of the Shah. Just because we make a "warning" doesn't mean it's ever okay to shoot down a civilian plane over its own airspace.

Also to correct the record this is the third known airplane shot out of the sky where most or all of the plane's passengers died. The Israelis shot down an Libyan plane over the Sinai Peninsula in the1970's, the Soviets shot down KAL OO7 in 1983 killing all passengers, they also actually forced a civilian plane to land on a frozen lake and two of the passengers were killed. And now this tragic situation.

Wasn't there an incident where a bomb exploded in a plane exploded over Scotland. KAL, the Iranian incident, Scotland and now this one. I was listening to Coast to Coast am last night. July 17 is the date TWA flight 800 went down. Could have been an missile attack. The guest made a compelling case for that scenario. And not lets not forget the missing Malaysian plane has never been located.
The world is not a safe place. At least some parts. Terrorist have no conscience.
