@Truth...Is it not time to actually investigate and use some "truth"
prior to any more unintelligent nonsensical posts? Just an idea.
@Patriot...Still obtaining your news from the highly intellectual talk
radio crowd I see. @UtahBlueDevil...Well
done as always. Information overload for non free thinking crowd.
"Obama breaks the law to the extent that even the most liberal of justices
unanimously concurred."Good grief. Justice Roberts best
described the ruling in saying all they were clarifying was that a recess must
be longer than 3 day - that 10 days constitutes a recess. That was the extent
of the ruling. It confirmed the process as being legal. You all are
so desperate to find something wrong it almost reaches the point of being sad.
Why don't you all go do something positive. If the only way you can make
your candidate or party of choice look good is through tearing down the other,
it doesn't say much for what one stands for. Surely conservatism stands
for something more than "your worse than we are".Or maybe it
Obama continues to cement his legacy as the worst president ever. As the rate
he's going, it will soon be indisputable. Pushing for socialism using
lawless tactics. And with to most intransigent and un-transparent
administration in history.
Having lived in Venezuela, I know that their type of freedom is not what I what
I want in our country. Our President wasn't in the military as Hugo Chavez
was but our President has his educational background and associates that have
helped him maneuver his power to what he wants, not necessarily what the people
want. We have too many that don''t care about real freedoms that the
founding fathers planted with real paper and pledges to us.
Unbelievable. Obama breaks the law to the extent that even the most liberal of
justices unanimously concurred. Not even debatable. And yet the ubra-liberal
Obama apologists still make sad, pathetic excuses for his illegal conduct. All
objective, common sense people now laugh at such indefensible actions. This latest Supreme Court decision continues to cement Obama's legacy as
worst president ever.
Don't enforce laws passed by congress including the ACA and immigration.Do not uphold the Constitution with regards to appointments.Intimidate
and investigate the news media. The IRS investigations are politically
motivated. It sounds more like Venezuela than the US. Thanks for
reigning in the president SCOTUS.
@Lou Montana:Obama is a post-progressive president, not progressive.
We are going backwards. I can't call him conservative, because, he sure
doesn't act like Limbaugh or Palin. But he's going backwards."Progressive people want freedomtheir souls are open and
proud."Like the florist in Oregon or the baker in Colorado or
the wedding photographer in New Mexico?Obama is progressive in the
same way like Stalin was a liberal or the Taliban are pious or McCarthyism was
As a supposedly a Constitutional law professor, his belief as the President of
the United States of America, he has the ability to act as the Chief Justice of
the United States Supreme Court, also, gives him that power and ability to do as
he wants with only the House of Representatives as his only Check but not
Balance. However, with the Court's unanimous decision in that one case,
it has got to go against the President's grain. It is good that the Court
has shown this, even though the process to get to that point took 2 years. When
the Court sees abuse of power, they need to act as that is part of their
process, not to put it off for 2 years. The Court knows the law that Congress
makes and that the President is to carry out. He has persuaded the Congress,
with success, to vote and then read the law that they made through his
legislative abilities. The children of Israel wanted a king so they could be
like other nations and our law doesn't allow that through our
Constitution. Some learn the law to get around the law.
As Abraham Lincoln said, You can fool some of the people all the time, and all
of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the
time. With all of the excellent responses today, this quote rings load and
I believe if you compare Pres Obama's number of executive orders to the
number of any Republican President he has less. This ruling from a Supreme
Court of the majority of Republican's is not a surprise at all. I wish I
believed that politicians did what was best for their country and not what was
best for their pocketbooks.
One Old Man,How interesting is this set of statistics. As pointed
out, Obama has been the President who as least used the recess appointment to
place people in positions of authority. Obama is the recent President who has
given the Senate more, not less leeway to use its considerable power to bloc a
President's ability to appoint. Yet, he is the President who has had his
hand slapped. What delicious irony, which apparently is lost on those who cry
out about the Obama "imperial" Presidency. I suppose that means that
Republican Presidents are sacrosanct and above criticism. The cries
of the right wing are often quite hypocritical. Following the Karl Rove
political philosophy, you accuse the political enemy of that which you are most
guilty. Sadly, this tactic works on the great uninformed right wing.
Many pro Pres. Obama apologists, keep rehashing the number of executive
privileges evoked by other presidents. Did other president act unlawfully? The
Supreme Court ruled that Pres Obama acted against the law. So it seems
presidents can, do, and use executive privilege - but only within the law.
Reality - the sitting President of the United States exceeded his presidential
powers - period. I find it interesting that no one - on either side - has quoted
from the Constitution of the USA which article allows the President of the US to
create law - any law. (Hint - there isn't one) There is a demand by the
"progressives" in the political arena to have a Constitutional
Convention. Reports have indicated that part of the purpose is to reduce the
scope of the 1st Amendment and to abolish the 2nd Amendment. Who are the
proponents of this subterfuge? Senators from both sides of the isle. No one is
guiltless when they seek power and control over the people who elected them. No
President makes all the good and bad choices. He is just the puppet of the
men/women behind the curtain. They pull the strings. Follow the money - who is
making the strongest gains from the fiascos that we see publicly. The 17
trillion in debt is no after thought. Each President since the early 1900s has
been a puppet to those who want a one world rule. No matter the party.
@LOU MontanaHow does progressives wanting greater and more
government in their lives, wanting bigger, more controlling government, wanting government to control and dictate their schools, their business,
their healthcare, their marriages, their children, wanting more government in
their religions, in speech, in their privacy, in fact every aspect
of their lives.equate in any way to progressives wanting
freedom?how does advocating for a president who tramples the
constitution, ignores constitutionally created law. who legislates from the
whitehouse equate to progressives wanting freedom?Your poem
doesn't pass the smell test, nor bear any resemblance to reality.
There's Republicans all around me I'm standing in a crowd
I can hear them screamingand their rants are so loud The ones
that are not crying Are passed out on the ground They did see it
coming or even hear the sound Progressive people want
freedom their souls are open and proud.Vote out the conservative
lustand save in God We Trust.
" . . . the four justices on the conservative side of the court . . .
"Why slip in that piece of misinformation I wonder? There are
five justices on the Conservative side of the court, not just four. That's why the Supreme Court has been so detrimental to this nation for
so long . . . the Bush V Gore and the Citizens United decisions being the worst
travesties of justice perpetrated against American citizens so far this
century. This recent decision was most likely the correct one, given
the 9-0 margin, but I certainly don't blame Obama for taking unilateral
action in giving this nation good governance.Republican
obstructionism is an extremely perverse form of political terrorism being
perpetrated against the people of the United States, and it must be challenged.
How quickly voters forget. And that is exactly what the GOP counts on when
people like Orrin Hatch and his henchmen blast Obama for use of recess
appointments. But when they do, they are neglecting to also tell us the truth
about past appointments.According to the Congressional Research
Service, President Ronald Reagan made 240 recess appointments, President George
H. W. Bush made 77 recess appointments, President Bill Clinton made 139 recess
appointments. President George W. Bush made 171 recess appointments, and as of
June 1, 2014, President Barack Obama had made 37 recess appointments. There are only two words for our GOP side of Congress.DISGUSTINGLY
UtahBlueDevil,You are correct that for centuries we have seen
tension and conflict between the executive and legislative branches of
government. But the Supreme Court has now ruled in a unanimous decision that
the president went beyond his powers and authority. Hardly Parisian (partisan?)
fluff. And do you believe Democrats don't or wouldn't
gerrymander when you have Reid and Obama advocating for the president going
around Congress illegally? Unconstitutionally?Despite
gerrymandering, voters have cast their votes and created divided government.
Obama has to work within the structure of the Constitution and the balance of
government. He cannot rationalize or justify unconstitutional action because he
and Congress cannot get along. I just can't see how liberals can explain
Another "look at me" move by the Republicans. Meanwhile the cannibalism
of their party continues so much so that even your strongest media supporters
are turning against you. And lest we not forget about Ms. Palin's plans to
create her own "Freedom" party which ironically enough condones taking
away everybody's freedoms. I would also think it's a bad sign when
one begins to feed on itself as the Republican seems to be doing. This law suit is nothing more than Banier attempting to keep his party
together. And just like all the other stuff he has done to undermine our
President this to shall fail.I think we all know who is in
trouble.I wonder what all of the time and money that is going to be
spent on this fruitless effort could do to really help America?By
the way, well done Blue Devil.
"The president cannot simply, unilaterally, go around Congress just because
voters have created a divided government"David, interesting
points... but the truth is that "voters" have only indirectly caused
this problem. It is the gerrymandering of congressional districts that has
caused this problem. When people like Hatch - which I have absolutely no
problems with - can run basically year over year unappeased because the
districts they own are never are never at risk, they can vote in extreme
partisan ways. Districts are set up to reinforce a single party vote rather
than have truly competitive elections. It creates very odd behavior. To the rest of your, I hate to say it, extremely Parisian fluff.... both sides
are guilty of this. The executive branch is predisposed to interpret laws and
apply them in a context that matches their agenda. Every single presidency has
had their actions challenged in the Supreme Court. In some cases, like Reagan,
it results in up to 21 people being criminally charged - though that is the
exception. The executive and legislative branches have had
exchanges like this for two centuries.
"Our ecomony retracted this year ...for the first time. Yes that means our
GDP was less in 2013 than in 2012."Patriot, you are in rare form
today. Osama bin Laden was found via information from Gitmo? Really"
And how exactly did prisoners who hadn't had contact with the outside world
in years come to know the location of Osama? And how did exactly these
prisoners learn of Osama's location?Year over year, 2012 to
2013, the US economy grew. Period. In Q1, the economy contracted from the
previous quarter. That is all that happened - hence why Wall Street didn't
react to the number. The Chinese economy is going to surpass the US
economy, there is nothing any President can do about it. China simply have more
consumers in their economy then we ever will. Someday, India will to. It is
math, not politics. And in case you forgot, China is a very socialist
country..... so claims that socialism is retarding economies falls completely on
its face in that example. The ruling by the SCOTUS was very narrow in
scope, and upheld the concept of recess appointments., which Reagan used many
time more often. ....but Nice try.
Obama, Reid and Democrats complain that they can't get anything done
because of Republicans in Congress. But that is what voters have created. The
president cannot simply, unilaterally, go around Congress just because voters
have created a divided government. This is not what the Constitution nor the
Founders envisioned. Obama has definitely been acting illegally, and against
our Constitution. The Supreme Court just stated that exact
point. How can Obama, Reid and Democrats respond? Ideally they would
follow the law that has been further defined by the Supreme Court and cease to
act unilaterally, and to act within the Constitutional powers given them, by the
People. But I would be surprised if Democrats and Obama will retreat
to a legal, safe position of action. Instead, they will squirm, rationalize,
twist and wrangle some convoluted interpretation of their own from the Supreme
Court decision, or simply ignore it, as they have ignored so many other laws.
re:xertOur ecomony retracted this year ...for the first time. Yes
that means our GDP was less in 2013 than in 2012. Were you aware of that or
perhaps MSNBC failed to enlighten you? The highest food stamp percent of any
president. The lowest college graduation placement percent of any recent
president. A sick economy that has NOT expanded but has instead retracted and
shrunk. China is set to pass the US this year economically as the worlds largest
economy and all under Barack's watch. Your understanding of economics is
...well ...challenged to say the least. The ONLY thing your socialist president
has grown is our national debt....he has taken a debt of 8.9 trillion to 17
trillion...the largest increase in US history....and by the way that is a bad
thing in case you were wondering as seen by our credit downgrade two years ago.
As far as getting Bin Laden...it was the intel from Gitmo that the Seals used to
get him and as I recall didn't Barack try to close Gitmo?? Coruption +
weakness + incompetence don't equate to greatness....but nice try.
Just trying to grasp how significant this is. Even the two liberal justices HE
appointed ruled against him.Any reasonable person who is not totally
narcissistic and arrogant would get the message. We live in a constitutional
republic not a banana republic.
Wow. Seven responses. Some seem to think he's imperialistic. I praise him
for negotiating right through this do nothing congress that isn't fit to
stand on the steps of our Capitol. Like or dislike our President, but don't
try to say that he didn't get anything done. If you do I'll laugh at
you from my obamacare hospital bed with my same sex husband sitting by my side
while we take in a DVD of zero dark thirty and privately thank our president for
saving our economy and hoping he will close gizmo and put an end to torture and
rendition in his last two years.
@ShimaluObama has impeachment insurance: Joe Biden. That's why
he picked Biden as VP, to make sure we wouldn't impeach him (it gives Obama
more flexibility to pursue his plans to fundamentally change America).
the last 6 years have been an abuse of power
according to the article speaker John Boehner said "asserting that Obama has
failed to carry out the laws passed by Congress." Not to be argumentative
but in a real request for information, would this not be considered "high
crimes and misdemeanors"? If so, wouldn't this then be reason for
This is a victory for the rule of law and a defeat for an imperial president.
I am so glad that we have a community organizer "leading"this country. I
can't imagine having someone (Mitt) that is truly intelligent and competent
leading now. It is going to be a long 2 1/2 years til barry leaves office,
unless he is booted out first....Well we can hope for change.
unanimous?Maybe barack should have known what he was doing was
illegal. But baracks above the law
Should "we the people" have expected something different from someone
who has no idea of what he's doing? Someone who admitted that he's
still in training for the job of POTUS?
Our founding fathers were very inspired to create a balance of power government.
Obama is being reigned in by the SCOTUS and is learning that he isn't our
