The transgender community receives more discrimination and more abuse than any other group in the larger LGBT community. It's about time that protections for them are finally getting some attention.

Excellent move on President Obama's part and long overdue. The T in LGBT has always been overlooked and misunderstood. Anti-trans prejudice may not be the last acceptable bias (as Time Magazine has recently touted*), but it is certainly close.

* The DesNews print edition reports today that nobody wants an atheist in-law by huge margins over other groups and similar polls show that people would vote for just about anyone over an atheist.

What about discrimination towards:

* short people
* left Handers
* obese folks

@worf

Yes these are also wrong worf and should not exist In a just society. It would be great to live in a society were people understood it is not all right to use violence and discriminate against others based soley on their being different but sadly we do not live in that world making laws against discrimination necessary.

@worf

Show me the discrimination, oppression, extreme violence, and murders of left handed people, short people, and obese people.

Transgender people face extreme discrimination that is finally being recognized and remedied.
