In the United States of America, parents are in charge of caring, feeding, educating, and clothing their children.

Only in a communist country does the government raise the children.

The curriculum for home-schooled students needs to be strictly created and verified, and the students rigorously tested on the proper curriculum, to make sure these students get the education they need and desesrve. It is too easy for home-schoolers to deviate from an appropriate curriculum and/or not have the background and education necessary to properly teach it. And make sure that the home-schooled students get appropriate exposure to differing ideas and people who have different beliefs and lifestyles to make sure the students get a well-rounded exposure to the world. In other words, make sure home-schooled students get the proper education so they can cope well in the world.

To "Furry1993" you need to look up the various studies that have been done on homeschooled kids.

The studies show that currently the homeschooled kids perform better in College than their public school peers. Why should they be tested to make sure they are learning what they need, when the studies already show that they are doing better than the public schools?

Why do you want to force homeschools to " get appropriate exposure to differing ideas and people who have different beliefs and lifestyles to make sure the students get a well-rounded exposure to the world" when the public schools do not do that? Public schools spend time telling our kids that we have global warming, SSM is good, and premarital sex is ok, but the public schools are not forced to expose the kids to the opposing view.

Also, if you spent some time around homeschooled kids, you would find that those kids are better adjusted and typically more capable than the public school kids. They are much more mature and prepared for life than their peers.

Furry1993,

It's crazy!

Why do students need to be strictly created and verified, and the students rigorously tested on the proper curriculum?

Who are you to decide how parents raise their children?

Testing, and accountability is nothing more than a money making scam. An average of seventy dollars per test for each student. A waste of billions of dollars, and it hinders learning.
