$5000 fine for Wade is like a 50 cent fine for you and me.

Manu never touched him. Sterling is right...if video shows definitively that this is a dive, or some other phoniness, the fines should be more than 5 G. Flailing and faking are so embarrassing, and no real man should stoop to faking it. Soccer players are the WORST offenders.
Writhing in pain, grabbing their shins like they got shot...get carried to the sidelines...then a quick blast of that magic spray, and they're running like a deer.

So what's new?
80 hours of community service, a missed game --now that's a fine.
5K ? Chicken feed.

Miss a quarter in the next game for the first offense, a half for the second offense, three quarters for the third offense etc and you can reset at the end of the regular season.

If players miss time as a penalty, coaches would crack down on embellishing and flopping. As it stands, they encourage it.

Hooks, I think you meant Stern was right... Sterling... well I needed a good innocent laugh. Thanks for the malaprop! :) And yes soccer players are the worst.

To me, flopping is cheating.

Let's bring back a bit more integrity to the game and end the charade of flopping. Missing a game (or a half) would certainly put an end to most of the flopping.

Here's my recommendation.

First offense, you get a warning and a pass. Second offense, the fine is $20,000. On the third offense, it's $20,000 and you miss the next game. After the third offense, the penalty remains the same.

Whatever the NBA decides to do, the penalty has to be high enough to cause the "floppers" some pain; until that happens, nothing is going to change.

The only way they're going to fix this is to start fining the officials as well. In this case, the official who made the call was headed down court with his head turned the other direction. He never saw the play. He turned his head back to look over his shoulder and only saw the reaction. Making a call when you never saw the play is egregiously incompetent and he should be fined or suspended until he can be retrained.

the fact that the referee can't see it as a flop on the floor the majority of times floors me. When Dwayne Wade jumps sideways on a jumpshot to make contact and gets two free throws for it is rediculous. And these guys would trade a measly 5k fine for a win in the playoffs. You should quadruple the fine in the playoffs period. Bottom line the refs are supposed to be the best in the game and they can't see these flops happening, they've got to be better, it's like they look the other way. I think they should fine the referee that calls a foul on a flop as well, that would go further in eliminating the flop then anything else!
