Perhaps Peace is not in Israel's best interest currently.

Maintaining the "status quo" and occupying selected pieces of Palestine land seems to be their current philosophy.

By claiming the "Victim" status they receive huge amounts of money from abroad. The United States gives them at least three point two billion dollars each year. To give them this money we need to borrow it. Not real smart to borrow it to give it away. Other countries and private individuals also give huge amounts of unrestricted cash.

An "entitlement society" develops and they feel this money should continue to flow into the country no matter what. If peace breaks out then this money would stop or be curtailed. Bad for their economy.

They would have to make some tough choices.

Maybe they would have to choose between settlements and military spending?
