Indeed, we are reaping the whirlwind.
A fascinating article. I think the author did well in showing how physical
intimacy without emotional connection is a big part of the problem. Another
huge part of the problem are false rape claims, often as a result of
"buyer's remorse" when a female may regret a previous decision and
then claim rape to escape the social consequences. False rape claims, such as
the classic one involving the Duke University lacrosse team, hurt the true
victims by giving law enforcement and school officials reason to doubt claims.
The false claims at Duke resulted in three innocent students being
arrested, prosecuted, defamed and vilified. The team coach was forced to resign
and his property vandalized. Racial tensions worsened. Nifong, the lead
prosecutor, was disbarred. The university had to financially settle with dozens
of players and the coach. The city, the prosecutor, and the police were
federally found guilty of how they handled the case. This is just one
example of why universities and the police are so careful when investigating
claims...and how false claims hurt real victims.
6 out of ten coeds have sex before marriage? What is the rate of sexual
encounters at a private church owned University that has rules set by guidelines
that does not allow premarital sex?
