The last two years 4A had a play in game with the 4th seed of one of the
region's with fewer schools, & the 5th place team from the Utah County
region, because that region was quite large.
Well the bigger schools in Region 9 could be moved back up to 4A...I
also heard another school in St. George is going to be built? Will they keep 8
teams in that region or push Cedar and Canyon View up to Region 12?
This is something that has upset me for some time not just about baseball. But
it boils down to them being equal across the board. If they make an exception
for one then they will be getting more for the others. If they have a cut and
dry rule (4 teams) its easy to follow. Then where if they make one that's
dependent on the number of teams in region people would try and join those
regions for a better chance. But I agree also, very unfair for many sports when
decent teams get left out.
Can anyone tell me why Region 9 (with 7 schools) will only have 4 teams allowed
in the playoffs while the other 3A regions (with only 5 schools each) will also
have 4 teams allowed? When I see teams like Richfield with a record of 0-5-1,
Grantsville at 2-4-0, and Union at 1-6-0 qualify for the post season, I
can't believe it. Last years top team from Region 9- Desert Hills may not
play post season unless everything falls in line. They are a very good team that
deserves to play in the post season. Much more deserving than the forth seeds
from all the other Regions. 3 teams from Region 9 will not qualify while only 1
from each of the other Regions. Unfair...
