This whole fiasco that surrounds the roman catholic church in shrouds, secrecy
and scrutiny is why I abandoned the rc church and adopted a faith(LDS) where
'personal responsibility' isn't just a cop-out, a temporary
band-aid solution, a by-word to try and excuse ecclesiastical sins and
indiscretions. How can pope Francis take 'personal responsibility' for
such outlandish behavior not committed on his watch? Where is pope Quitter II
trying to take 'personal responsibility' for those malevolent
ministers who committed their crimes under his 'personal' stewardship?
Why don't both(not just one) of the living popes take responsibility for
this type of conduct committed under popes JP I and II? I'm sure that it
didn't just happen from pope JP I and forward, too!
Have a good friend that is a Catholic Preist, and though I'm not a Catholic
he has been source of spiritual direction to me. The Catholic church is doing
good things in the world.I think there is a real double-standard at
work here when the gay community is not asked about this at all. It wasn't
heterosexual preists who were abusing boys. There is a real potential for child
abuse in gay marriages when the child is the same sex as the parent. It
can't be the child of both partners, and there is danger that the nonparent
will abuse the child. After all, it wasn't heterosexuals who started and
supported the "Man-Boy Love Association." This abuse scandal should
figure heavily into the time-proven fact that gays in positions of authority
have abused children in their charge, whether it be the Catholic Church, the Boy
Scouts, or school.
