A funny time for the President to talk of other countries lower defense spending only days after he announced reductions on the U.S. defense budget.

Yeah our defense budget is only bigger then the next 15 countries combined, however will we defend ourselves?

mcclark. Does it concern you at all that Russia increased their military spending by almost 80% last year? Why would they do that when they are already outspending the next 15 countries combined? The question is how will their neighbors defend themselves?

Hey happy2bhere, the sequester demanded by Republican necessitated cuts in ALL spending, including the military.

And if any NATO member should cut military expense, it should be the US.

We shouldn't be picking up the tab for the other NATO nations, although a whole lot of Right Wingers seem to feel we should keep wasting money on military spending and let Americans starve.

Continuing Mountanman, China is also seeking a blue water navy with aircraft carriers, and submarines. And Russia seems to be acting in the manner that NATO was supposed to prevent. Plus if history has anything to say about it, we the U.S. have already been down this road of weakening the military. WW11 as an example. And, remember. Much of that huge military budget the U.S. spends is not going into tanks, guns, ships, planes, bombs, ect. A lot of that money goes to the service people themselves. We in the U.S. pay the best and give the best benefits of any military in the world, and it is expensive.

The defense reductions negotiated in the Sequester were insisted upon by Democrats. Our president does sound like a hypocrite here...again.

The realities are the US is decreasing all discretionary spending because of the massive entitlement spending requirements that primarily Democrats have enacted over the years. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and other such programs are growing at such a rate (soon Obamacare will be added to the debt in massive numbers)that they are devouring the budget.

What solution do Democrats propose?

More spending, more taxation.

I'm banking on change I can believe in come November 2014 and November 2016. Waiting is increasingly painful.

It was the Repubicans who insisted on sequester. Look it up. BTW, Right Wing propaganda sites are not legitimate sources.

Face it man. Right Wing "solutions" have been nothing but bad news for this nation.

Clinton leaves the country shipshape for GW Bush, and GW almost DESTROYS it in 8 short years.

Now the nation is on its feet, and of course we should invest to make this nation stronger.

And of course we should raise taxes for high earners back to where they should be, at minimum, put the Buffet rule into effect.

The best thing "Conservatives" can do for this nation is just stay out of the way, quit obstructing progress, and let the Democrats repair your myriad mistakes.

We should spend less on presidential vacations, campaign fund raising trips, and foreign country tours.

Use it to strengthen our military.
