More liberal "logic". Water boarding to save lives of innocent people, find bin Laden and prevent future attacks is "torture" but killing and maiming people (often civilians) with drone attacks isn't torture?

Thid Barker Torture never stopped any act of terror. It did not help find Bin Laden. The biggest crime George Bush committed was making torture acceptable to people like you. The country I grew up in knew torture was wrong. Hitler, Stalin, those people tortured people the United States Of America was better then that. Waterboarding is most certainly torture, it makes people feel that they are drowning. Shame on anyone that defends this vile, disgusting practice.

mclark. In testimony before congress the head of the CIA testified that water boarding gave intelligence to find bin Laden and prevent many more attacks. Does waterboarding work? Without a doubt, yes. Abu Zubayda broke after 35 seconds of being water boarded and, according to the man who did it, the information he gave let us stop “…a number of attacks, maybe dozens of attacks". But who are you going to believe, people who were not even there or those who were?

The ends justify the means, eh? Good for you, Thid. As long as the ends are to your liking, let the torture continue.

I wasn't there, but I know what happened to Japanese soldiers who used the practice on Americans during WW II. They were executed. I guess it's OK when WE'RE the ones doing it.

Mark; What I don't understand is how water boarding is immoral but killing and maiming people with drone attacks is moral? Can you please help me? What are we supposed to do, just them THEM kill us?

You know better than to think that prisoners will kill us if we don't torture them. As for drone attacks, you don't bring it up out of concern for Pakistanis or Afghans, but because you feel it's one more way to launch the daily attack on Obama. Drone warfare is about as moral as "shock and awe".

Well, Mark, if it was ok to bomb Libya and threaten to bomb Syria because they have murdering dictators, why not Iraq's murdering dictator?

Bombing Baghdad wasn't aimed at just one person, and, as we now know only too well, the stated rational turned out to be bogus.
